would calzaghe of ever been beaten??
46-0, every major fighter beaten, 2 divisions completely cleaned up and unified - is it fair to say that had joe calzaghe decided to stay around for a couple of years he would of gone to possibly eclipse marcianos unbeaten record??
He just strikes me as the kind of fighter that is so good he just doesnt have to turn up and fight his A game to beat a guy and apart from perhaps dawson catching him with something special there really was nothing of any threat that would of suggested joe would be in danger of not getting to 50-52 straight wins.
Remember hearing the chant at the hatton-mayweather weigh in aimed at bernard hopkins of "You`ll never beat calzaghe, you`ll never beat calzaghe" and it actually now seems pretty apt to be honest.
top 5 p4p all time greatest champions?? a good possibility
greatest ever british sportsmen?? id probably have him ahead of the likes of moore, charlton, botham etc!

i think he could of broke marcianos record, but they would of had to be meaningful fights.i think his hunger is goin tho as he said himself.and you dont want to fight when you feeling like that,or u could end up on the wrong side of a beating. top five of all time no, did he have the ability to be yes. i think calzaghe is an amazing talent, not every ones cup of tea but hey.ive said this before and ill say it again, calzaghe on his absolute A game is unbeatable.or at the very least could of lived with anyone of the all time greats
Re: would calzaghe of ever been beaten??
Joe would have got beat eventually if he chose to fight RJJ in his prime. He chose to fight Ottke rejects form winning the title from Eubanks to Lacy which lengthened his career but not his legacy.
Re: would calzaghe of ever been beaten??
Calzaghe... top 5 p4p all time greatest champions?
'You mean he's up there with SRR, Joe Lewis, and Ali?
Re: would calzaghe of ever been beaten??
Of course he could have been beaten, any fighter can be. A fairly substantial number of people felt he lost to Hopkins, who regardless of the Pavlik performance, is not what he once was. Also Joe Calzaghe is a great champion, possibly the greatest British boxer of all time, but IMO he is not within touching distance of the top 5 of all time, his achievements & general skill level just do not take him anywhere near that high. Also not sure that he can become the greatest British sportsman of all time simply for the fact that he does not have the mass appeal or recognition that a Bobby Moore or Charlton have
Re: would calzaghe of ever been beaten??
Calzaghe is certainly a better sportsman than any footballers from Britain, Calzaghe has consistantly been the best in his division for 11 years, no footballer could say they have been that.
Here is a quote from Cuss D'amato about Ali that I think fits Calzaghe also.
"Any fighter who fought Muhammad Ali was intimidated by him.
You see, Ali's secret weapon was a tremendous will to win, an ability to take his own fear and project it as an irresistable force, which immediately tended to inhibit the ability of his opponent to execute what he knew."
Re: would calzaghe of ever been beaten??
I honestly think Calzaghe would have either run into a huge puncher because his chin isn't super amazing, its really good, but Kessler hurt him several times.
OR
Chad Dawson would have beat him. Chad has that same will to win, is faster, bigger, and goes to the body unlike anybody else who fought Calzaghe. I think he is the first guy who could match Calzaghe in every department, I think even though it was extremely close he stayed in there with a very tough, very high output Glen Johnson who walks through anything.
Which brings me to another guy I've always felt would beat Calazaghe, and thats Glen Johnson, I think he has a way better chin, he would back Calzaghe up and break his will because nobody else has ever matched Joe's stamina and Glen would, I see JOe winning this more often than not, but I think Glen could find a way if he was having a hot night.

Show us a clip where Joe is stumbling, reeling, holding for dear life or putting the earmuffs on against Kessler, he was never hurt, sure he felt some power but not hurt.
Re: would calzaghe of ever been beaten??
if calzaghe wanted he could get to 60 fights undefeated! just that no one out there
chad dawson aint proven shit, & no one in britain knows who the hell he is
hopkins - pointless already beaten him & hopkins didnt wanna fight he just wanted to moan & cheat in first meeting
RJJ already beat him sensless
Glen Johnson oh please;D
kelly pavlik ha ha ha
jermain taylor - calzaghe would deal with him easier than any of the above
carl froch - maybe to shut froch mouth up
so no he would never of been beaten, he's got balls, he's aggressive, and he never quits

Just off the top of my head, I think it was the fourth round Kessler lands a right uppercut that hurts Joe.
You don't have to be stumbling around or reeling to be hurt, but he definitely lost his balance point at the moment, and it happened after that as well a few times.
I'm not showing you a clip go watch the fight again you lazy bastard.

If people don't know who Chad Dawson is then how do they know how good he is? How is beating Adamek, Tarver, and Harding soundly not proving yourself? Its more than Calzaghe had done up until he fought Hopkins.
Re: would calzaghe of ever been beaten??
No way is Calzaghe up there with the greatest of all time.

ok sick of making Calzaghe out to be some god, Dawson would beat him at 175 and honestly how the hell did Joe clean out the division??? he hasn't fought tough and rugged Glen Johnson, he hasn't fought the man that many think is really #1 at lightheavy which is Dawson, hell he's even too scared to give the man i feel already beat him in B-Hop, in 2001 Jones would have destroyed Calzaghe and would have made him look ordinary at best. the fact that Calzaghe wasn't even able to really blow away the loser from the Contender Peter Manfredo, a man who was whooped by a welterweight and a jr. middleweight, it says alot

100% without a doubt! A well placed shot to the chin causing the brain to slosh its way the back of the head causing blackout or OK. Since there is no specific way to pinpoint the exact cause it is considered chance.... but the point is, it can happen to any fighter.
Not to belittle the mans accomplishments but there have been many boxers, although they did quit undefeated, with more wins without a loss than Calzague. It's just Calzague decided he had enough.... Every boxer (Pacquiao, Mayweather, SR Robinson... etc) in and out of the game could have been been OK'd and end up with a "L" on thier record... It is NOT a scracred! statistic and quite to the contrary a fighter that comes back from down or a a loss earns more respect from his peers and fans alike.
