HBO passes on Adamek-Glenn Johnson
Is there a that really sucks smilie
its on boxingscene, says the fights all but done and just needs a network but that network will not be HBO who could have had it.
Hopefully Showtime picks it up. Its not the fight I've been waiting for my whole life but it almost surely will be pretty entertaining. HBO's done much much worse.
Re: HBO passes on Adamek-Glenn Johnson
showtime usually do the big cruserweight fights anyway
i suspect they`ll snap up the fight ;D;D;D
Re: HBO passes on Adamek-Glenn Johnson
What are the criteria that go into picking a fight?
How do you pass on any fight that Adamek is in given his most recent performances?
Re: HBO passes on Adamek-Glenn Johnson
Adamek has put on some good shows in his last few fights I would like to see this fight, but I'm not all that surprised that HBO passed on this fight. Adamek isn't exactly a household name and Glen Johnson is an old journeyman fighter with some impressive victories.
Re: HBO passes on Adamek-Glenn Johnson
But they put on Tarver vs Dawson 2 which was originally on Showtime. HBO really makes me wonder what they are thinking for passing up this match. The winner of Johnson vs Adamek could set up a Jones or Hopkins showdown for the summer. Glen is never really in a bad fight and neither is Adamek. This fight has potential to be a fight of the year candidate.
Re: HBO passes on Adamek-Glenn Johnson
Thats really bad news, both guys could have used the exposure!
Hopefully Showtime does the right thing as imo it is a great match-up!!!
Re: HBO passes on Adamek-Glenn Johnson
Boy,Adamek cannot get a running start off of great Cunningham battle as far as momentum......for that matter same goes for hard luck Johnson.Sounds like a case of HBO divas thinking their the only meaningful show in town and sole focus needs to be exclusivly on only a few "mega-stars".
Re: HBO passes on Adamek-Glenn Johnson
Re: HBO passes on Adamek-Glenn Johnson
From the way it looks, HBO will only televise fighters it wants to promote into mega stars or are already mega stars. HBO has passed on Adamek's whole career because there are no future plans for him. Same with Vic. Every one of either fighter's matches are epic, but they aren't being groomed for HBO stardom so HBO passes on their fights.
Re: HBO passes on Adamek-Glenn Johnson
Definitely not nearly glamourous enough to be a HBO fight.
Showtime would do much better with this anyway and I'd rather see them broadcast it, it would frankly seem wrong if this was on HBO, neither fighter fits the HBO criteria, which should be reserved for the cream of the crop and top prospects.
Adamek is hardly a HBO worthy fighter at this point, certainly not as the attraction.

With tounge planted firmly in cheek ;D.?I think this fight is exactly what HBO could use,a shot in the arm and a great crossroads fight with two very TV friendly and exciting fighters.A chance for the masses to 'discover' new blood.HBO as of late has gone the way of a Diva monopoly mind set that is knee deep in "showcase" fights for returning network contract carriers or GBP's and other fast rising prospects. They must have a running conveyer belt onto which they endlessly pile 'the next best thing'.Its by no means a constant but I'd take this fight over their recent offering of two slovenly obese heavyweights in Arreola and McCline....or that PPV showcase farce Pavlik/Rubio & Cotto/Jennings.Surely,Adamek can produce action worthy of at the very least a co-feature slot?Thats how guys evolve and come into their own...if ever given the opportunity to shine on the platform next too HBOs super-dooper-mega stars.HBO is all about the new fad, whats popping as they see it.They are a buisness, understood, but as long as they are treated like the only show in town we'll get more of the same. But its the ones at times left off the air, over looked that are worthy of the spotlight.

I was just thinking that what a fucking joke. They put on Tarver Dawson 2. Adamek Johnson probably could be a fight of the year candidate and would definetly be much better than that shitty rematch.

Don't you think Showtime should have its share of fighters too though? I like seeing Dawson, Darchinyan, Adamek and hopefully Froch on Showtime. They have kept faith in these guys so far in their careers they should keep those fighters.
For me the cruiserweight and flyweight divisions are Showtime divisions. I hope they keep things that way.
Re: HBO passes on Adamek-Glenn Johnson
Here i've already seen the fight anywayz....glen johnson looses by close decision then cries about it after instead of doing something about it in the ring. Sorry if i spoiled it for anyone.
