Mayweather vs. Marquez PPV on Sky, with Hatton Promotions UK Bill
Got my Boxing News today. Apparently Hatton Promotions have signed an exclusive deal with Sky. Sky are putting Mayweather vs. Marquez on PPV and will screen the Judah vs. Matthew Hatton fight, and Hatton Promotions stage a show in Altrincham on the same night that will serve as the UK portion of the PPV. Not sure who will feature yet, but it would appear Hatton promotions are looking to sign a few names to bulk up the quality of the bill. I imagine Joe Murray will feature.

Well didnt expect anything else after the fighters were in london, im quite suprised really this is PPV, as i cant see this selling that well, i know casual boxing friends of mine who dont even know who Marquez is, so i cant see how this sells especailly early hours of the morning, maybe sky are hooping they will get hundreds of thousand pissed up brits returning from a night out and thinking Ricky Hatton is fighting and buying it thinking there watching Ricky v Judah. ;D

I don't see how this does much business. Matthew Hatton isn't exactly PPV worthy and he's going to be the best-known British fighter on the bill. It looks like the American promoters and Sky have looked at the Hatton money from the Mayweather/Manny fights and thought what a nice new revenue stream. If they come anywhere close to breaking even on the British costs of selling the PPV it means all big fights from the States will now be PPV.

If it does that many once Sky get their cut it leaves a few hundred thousand to pay for the Hatton bill and UK promotional costs and share out the rest between the promoters. They'll probably make next to nothing but if they do break anywhere near even it'll only encourage them, any future Mayweather/Manny fight or future US superfight will have a supporting UK card and be on PPV.

I can see why Mayweather has come to the UK, for contractual reasons. I hope this bombs otherwise this will be the end of boxing as we know it. :-\

There is no way on God's green earth that this will do well as a PPV event in the UK.
