Isn't shane just money in the bank..
I was wondering if PBF, and manny dont fight shane, could the reason be that they know that fight will always be there, and if and when one of them loses again they can cash that mosely check...
Re: Isn't shane just money in the bank..
That could be possible, but I'm not sure its actually correct.
Shane is a very advanced age for a boxer.
He's had a huge burst of motivation lately.
the only source of this motivation I can see is the forthcoming closure of his career. He wants to finish on a high.
Re: Isn't shane just money in the bank..
Hmmnnn... possibly... Shane is a decent money fight for both... bigger than a JMM fight in terms of money....

Another source of motivation for Shane to chase the big fights and earn more money is his divorce expenses...:)

Wrong, JMM brings in Mexican fans, who are the last really big-spending group to spend money on boxing. Shane doesn't have a huge fanbase & he's not a major PPV star. JMM has a huge fanbase just by virtue of being the great Mexican fighter of the present time, & those fans are more likely to spend money on a PPV or going to a fight.
Re: Isn't shane just money in the bank..
Shane would not fighter the losers of any fight, he has only a few fights left in him and he would not take sloppy seconds.

You could be right that JMM is bigger attraction than Sugar Shane Mosley right now but I think it's still highly debatable... Years back, JMM played 2nd or 3rd billing to the likes of warriors Erik Morales, Barrera and even Jorge Arce to the eyes of Mexican boxing fans coz JMM's play safe counterpunching style is not the usual Mexican brawling warrior style of boxing... In general, boxing fans love offensive brawlers as against defensive counterpunchers... JMM was even considered "can't draw flies" at one point... But since Mexican boxing idols were falling to the wayside one by one (Morales, Castillo, Barrera, Mijares, Margacheato, Arce, Angulo, etc.), JMM might be the #1 Mexican boxer right now in terms of fans popularity tho I think Chavez Jr. has a say about that...;D

Why do you feel the need to constantly harp on about JMM in such a cynical manner? What is it? Is it because you have trouble dealing with the fact that most of us think he has outboxed Manny over two fights?
I would say that the "play safe" style has done pretty well for him.
Re: Isn't shane just money in the bank..
Little ways to go before they should assume Mosley a stepping stone.I think in that scenario that both might run a risk of going 0-2.

Stating JMM might be the most popular Mexican boxer right now and probably JMM more of a PPV attraction than Mosley... Is it an attack on JMM?? It's more like praises...;D

Maybe. But it could be down to how long he has left. The longer they leave it, the more likely it is that Shane fades with age. Plus he's basically waiting for a fight with one of those two or Cotto, so they don't have to rush things.
Re: Isn't shane just money in the bank..
fair play to paul williams, taking on a rather bizzarely still unknown entity in winky was pretty brave.
I consider sugar to be in the same category. The guy doesnt neccesarily do anything great, but he doesnt have a single flaw and is extremely hard to hit properly.

not when you basically say it's by default, and even try to make it seem as if Angulo of all people is more popular in Mexico, or anywhere really, as for "Fill in the blank"Boxer (the dude seems more like Prince every day, tomorrow it'll be "The Poster Formerly Known as SaddoBoxer") he tries to downplay any fighter that isn't Fillilpino or any bit Asian, but he does so mostly against JMM, why? cause he's not Pacquiao, Marquez kills Manny's aura of being invincible, something all his fanboys can't handle

I'm not saying it's by default... JMM earned his status as Mexico's numero uno right now... He's a very good boxer... He's the #2 P4P boxer in the world... He has 2 close fights with the great Pacquiao, he KO'ed Casamayor and Juan Diaz, and beat Barrera... JMM is no doubt earned his number 1 ranking among Mexican boxers...
As for Angulo, he was considered by many Mexican boxing fans as the next big thing in Mexican boxing... until his last fight...
On the sidenote, Mexico's current numero uno was knocked down 4 times (or 5 times if you count additional 1 KD holding of the ropes) by the great Pacquiao...

on another sidenote, yet with all the knock downs, many still feel that JMM won both fights...
