HBO, Showtime, Sky..........etc.
Why don't the stations release DVD's of their fights? It would seem if they priced them reasonably there would be a good market for them.

Re: HBO, Showtime, Sky..........etc.
I agree but they may not hold all exclusive rights to them and if they did sell they may have to pay out such a large portion to the fighters, promoters etc it is not really worth it.....
If they did though man what a collection.....
I record fights off of HBO, Showtime, and just about any other station or PPV event I can find one going on.....Then put em on DVD....Have built up a fairly inpressive in just 10 months...

I would imagine for an organization like HBO for example they could easily write in the contract the percentage takes for a boxer, promotional company etc. I don't record on my VCR now because it's hooked up on another TV. One of these days I'm gonna hire some kid to get me all up to date with technology.

Their might just be too many shifts in the fighters situations.Jumping networks, etc.Until recently HBO and Showtime would not even show clips of one another.Besides, they are divas....Man you have me beat.I actually still record some on a VCR,just habit I suppose.I have more lbs of plastic than an episode of 'New jersey housewives' lol.Transfering onto DVD is one huge slow pain in the arse...let alone down loading all of them >:dunce:<.Sooooooome day. Some day

The Tuesday night fight series from USA television network from the Blue Horizon put out one hell of a set of fights....I am still amazed at how many top notch pound for pound guys fought there....
HBO and showtime could certainly put out a more extensive series of world level title foghts etc

I use DVDFlick which is free and so simple to use, just drop the avi or whatever format into the programme and it rips them onto a dvd for wetching on telly.
I also had a load of video tapes i transferred to dvd's recently they were all from old ITV Fight Night and the likes so don't see how it can't be done nowadays.
My local dvd rental place has a tonne of UFC stuff to rent. Boxing needs to catch up a bit.

Re: HBO, Showtime, Sky..........etc.
Supposedly they don't believe that they can make a profit. It is apparently very expensive to press and distribute DVD's, and the network suits don't feel that there are enough boxing fans willing to buy the DVD's in order to make money on the deal

Re: HBO, Showtime, Sky..........etc.
I still got 700 tapes from 1986 VHS, and still record that way.
