Danny Williams has retired
I am friends with Spencer fearon on facebook and he has said that Danny Williams has decided to retire from boxing.
Re: Danny Williams has retired
Glad he has retired he is well past his prime and there is no need for him to take more punches.
Re: Danny Williams has retired
Good. Hopefully he stays retired too.
Re: Danny Williams has retired
it's the best thing he can do, his biggest win is a fluke win against an old shot Tyson who was too proud to call a No Contest when he injured his knee in the first
Re: Danny Williams has retired
yeah after watching him getting demolished last friday this is a good decision for him.
he has his win over Tyson and i still rate him as having a massive heart for his one armed fight against Potter amazing stuff.
would have been intresting to see how the younger more hungry williams would have faired against Tyson in 2000 as they would have met if he hadn't lost to Francis.
always remember Tyson coming to the UK then as there was talk about him not getting into the UK and Vitali offered him a fight in Germany if he was refussed access to the UK.... i remember hoping they wouldn't let him in because that would have been a belter matchup ;)
Re: Danny Williams has retired
Very fair enough, you had a still good ride man, enough money not to worry for the rest of your life, let it here and enjoy the ring from the outside now.
Re: Danny Williams has retired
I remember Viatli making him crip walk a couple of years ago.

Actually, Warren has said that he offered the fight to Williams first but he shiit his pants so Francis got it, Williams admitted that himself, he said he was offered it but didnt feel ready;D
I remember reading that Tyson was coming over to fight Williams and thought it was a joke, I thought it was such a week matchup and back then it would have been, I dont think Williams would have lasted as long as Francis, look what happened in the fight when an older Tyson nearly took out a more "ready" Williams only for his knee to go:p
I also remember Johnny Nelson piping up about being a better opponent for Tyson than williams and how hed run rings round him, I also laughed at that;D

never knew that i always thought it was set up for Williams but he lost his tuneup with francis so they took the winner instead... can't blame williams if what you say is true Tyson was a scary guy.
i agree it might have been the same result as francis but it wouldn't have been any worse thats for sure.... fuck me the sun advertised on the soles of his shoes for that fight, shows the confidence he had at the time. ;D
Re: Danny Williams has retired
I wish the man the best of luck. Its certainly time really...

Re: Danny Williams has retired
Good to hear, he should have done it a couple of fights earlier.

Francis got his best payday ever times a million for fighting tyson
Even if williams was established back then and able to hand pick opponents would he really have turned down the offer to fight tyson in britain with that sort of money on offer??
Re: Danny Williams has retired
Damn it I was hoping for Klitschko vs Williams II =)
Re: Danny Williams has retired
It was the mirror that bought advertising on Francis soles;D
Williams wouldnt have got out the first round, when tyson got you hurt he was on you like a shark, look at the Saverese onslaught;)
