he has his win over Tyson and i still rate him as having a massive heart for his one armed fight against Potter amazing stuff.

would have been intresting to see how the younger more hungry williams would have faired against Tyson in 2000 as they would have met if he hadn't lost to Francis.

always remember Tyson coming to the UK then as there was talk about him not getting into the UK and Vitali offered him a fight in Germany if he was refussed access to the UK.... i remember hoping they wouldn't let him in because that would have been a belter matchup
Actually, Warren has said that he offered the fight to Williams first but he shiit his pants so Francis got it, Williams admitted that himself, he said he was offered it but didnt feel ready

I remember reading that Tyson was coming over to fight Williams and thought it was a joke, I thought it was such a week matchup and back then it would have been, I dont think Williams would have lasted as long as Francis, look what happened in the fight when an older Tyson nearly took out a more "ready" Williams only for his knee to go

I also remember Johnny Nelson piping up about being a better opponent for Tyson than williams and how hed run rings round him, I also laughed at that

never knew that i always thought it was set up for Williams but he lost his tuneup with francis so they took the winner instead... can't blame williams if what you say is true Tyson was a scary guy.

i agree it might have been the same result as francis but it wouldn't have been any worse thats for sure.... fuck me the sun advertised on the soles of his shoes for that fight, shows the confidence he had at the time.

Francis got his best payday ever times a million for fighting tyson

Even if williams was established back then and able to hand pick opponents would he really have turned down the offer to fight tyson in britain with that sort of money on offer??

On his day he was one of the best heavies in the world, you've got to wonder how good he could have been if he'd managed to stay focused on his boxing career and come in to bouts at his fighting weight each time.

Still, he'll always be the man who beat Tyson, and has been involved in more than his fair share of drama.

Gotta say I never rated Williams, always thought he was British, not even European level. Had stacks of heart (as Saddo said regarding the Potter fight) but apart from the Tyson fight he ALWAYS failed on the big stage. I really like Danny, but he should've retired after the Vitali fight becuase since then it has been a disgrace seeing him get prime time slots on Saturday night when he has clearly been shot to pieces and going through the motions for a pay day

Top fella nonetheless - enjoy your retirement Danny

Hope Danny has a good retierment and has put some of his hard erned mony in the bank.

Spoke to him for 5 minutets after he beat Scott Gammer and he was a very nice person and made sure all the fans had pictures and autographs before he went.

    Top man,thanks for the memorys.
