Floyd Mayweather v Saul Alvarez in Mexico ???
He's a 19 year old welterweight prospect with a record of 29-0 by 22ko. Full article at Mayweather vs Alvarez in Mexico? Schaefer Says Maybe - Boxing News
Is this some sort of joke:o. He needs to fight a top welterweight not a 19year old i hope this is wrong.I like Floyd but this is a joke if he fights this guy.
Re: Floyd Mayweather v Saul Alvarez in Mexico ???
:lolololol:
God, that Richard Schaefer is such an arsehead!
I truly hope that is NOT a fight we see in 2010. Even the Mayweather fans will blush reading that tripe! ;D
Re: Floyd Mayweather v Saul Alvarez in Mexico ???
Saul Alvarez beat Corlos Baldomir in the amateurs. He's very dangerous and Mayweather is taking a big risk. I see "Canelo" as a very grown up 19 yr old, with a great left hook.
This.... would.... cement.... Floyd Mayweather Jrs.... Legacy.
.... Along with the rematch with Sharmba Mitchell and Gatti.
Re: Floyd Mayweather v Saul Alvarez in Mexico ???
Floyd is the former p4p king and argubaly still is he shouldnt be facing a 19 year old that hasnt proved nothing.
Re: Floyd Mayweather v Saul Alvarez in Mexico ???
Read the actual interview with Bill Emes which was a few days back, it was actually discussed as a fight that could take place about two years from now.
Fighting him now just makes no financial sense, that's why it won't happen, certainly not now. It couldn't possibly have anything to do with GBP being Alvarez' co-promoter that this is even being mentioned. I think its pretty much a tactic to raise Alvarez' profile.
Mayweather fights the Pacquiao/Cotto winner. Fact.
Re: Floyd Mayweather v Saul Alvarez in Mexico ???
No way this happens anytime soon, Canelo is an exciting throwback fighter though, I enjoy all his fights. He is one of the main reasons I miss the Tecate Fight Nights on telefutura.
I would assume fans of Hatton like the starter of this thread would appreciate him.
Re: Floyd Mayweather v Saul Alvarez in Mexico ???
Alvarez is the future of the welterweights
Re: Floyd Mayweather v Saul Alvarez in Mexico ???
Mayweather 10 times the all around skill but Canelo is a brick shite house waiting to explode.Dont know if Floyd wanst that risk.If he's still with GBP they are doing a poor job with big Stateside exposure right now.

Hey if he could beat Carlos when he was 3 years old that is pretty impressive.

Re: Floyd Mayweather v Saul Alvarez in Mexico ???
I can't believe people are really feeding into this article. PBF is going with the biggest money fight and that is Pac. If Cotto wins then its Cotto. Maybe the Alvarez kid is really the draw they say and the fight is being cooked up in a couple of years. But an Alvarez fight is just being mentioned, probably to hype him up, so lets not get all anti-PBF when PBF didn't even say anything in this article. Lets be realistic, the money in a Pac fight will not be ignored.
Re: Floyd Mayweather v Saul Alvarez in Mexico ???
Haha, Baldomir in the Amateurs was a great win for Alvarez.

Yea sure thing pal.......:headscratch:
Re: Floyd Mayweather v Saul Alvarez in Mexico ???
I seriously doubt the fight is gonna happen.
But why do I get the feeling if it was Mosley fighting him they'd say Mosley is giving a young gun a shot and should be credited for his willingness to fight anyone in a high risk low reward fight. if it was Berto they'd give him credit as well. But if its Mayweather "he should fight a top welterweight" :)
Im willing to bet if that article had Mosleys name in it, no one would complain they would attribute it to his willingness to fight anyone and give him credit for giving the kid a chance.
That said, no way Mayweather fights him at this point.
