So now that Arum has called Mayweather/Pacquiao off...
So who would want to fight Manny after this... Honestly. Yuri Foreman is a contestant for a next Payday but c'mon... I am of the "innocent until proven otherwise" mentality but with all the raised eyebrows I can see his rep permanently being tarnished from this misqueue.
Who the hell is gonna want to step in the ring with a guy that has ducked certain drug test the opponant was willing to take...
Regardless of whether I think it's true or not is not the issue.
What's this gonna do to the rest of his career if it proceeds on it's current course... and his legacy?
Re: So now that Arum has called Mayweather/Pacquiao off...
Cash is king, I don't think there would be many boxers that would "stand their ground" and ask for additional testing. I mean most boxers would love to get in the ring with Manny just for the payday even if they know they're gonna lose, even if he was on PEDs.
Re: So now that Arum has called Mayweather/Pacquiao off...
Well, as long as he doesn't accept these tests, he really, sadly, did put a print of doubt in my mind now, I can't see how someone's innocent can refuse a 40 millions payday for a tea spoon of blood. TO be honest, there is not a lot of boxers which I would be happy to see against Manny at the moment, perhaps Sugar Shane or Paul Williams but otherwise... Mayweather-Pacquiao was the real deal but it seems that somebody has perhaps and sadly something to hide.

Indeed, but how will he now be remembered?...
I feel that this may permenantly tarnish his reputation and that tends to upset me.
Will he now be remembered as an ATG with "stipulations"...
Like Aaron Pryor and the black bottle. That'll always hang over his head even with all his accomplishments.

See, and that's what I mean... I've liked Manny for a while and want to believe his innocence but looking at it objectivly it's rather hard to.
I feel that going on it's current course regardless of what Manny acheives down the road his status will always come with an "...well, he may have been on PEDs" tag on it.
Re: So now that Arum has called Mayweather/Pacquiao off...
What a fight it would have been.
I hate Mayweather for being Mayweather but I have always been in awe of his skill set. At 130 he was a beast but his adjustments to his game through the weight classes has been amazing. His athleticism is freakish. Love him or hate him he's a master of his craft. He may put on "boring fights" of late but watching him fight you can see why it's called the sweet science...
Manny is just a freak of nature and months ago I would have gone on and on about his handspeed and power and preasure and how amazing it is that he'as retained it all if not gotten stronger in each catagory as he's climbed the ladder added to it being Roaches schooling on defense and his use of the left hand lead but now.... Now, I feel like it's all a lie.
Sad, really.

yep. thats how exactly he will be remembered. his reputation was tarnished by his refusal to the test although i see his reason to refuse the random testing. but whats funny is that everybody bought the accusations of a known and convicted drug dealer in mayweather sr. and by the way nothing was proven on the aaron pryor black bottle. for all we know its just placebo so he would fight harder that night.

To be honest if you read what most people are posting on the internet you see the following common statement "gayweather is a pussy, I hope Pac cleans him out in the courtroom"
I think the fine print for the asterisk will be rewritten in short order here.

Wouldn't you call that an expert on the subject though? A user that's been in boxing rings and around boxers his whole life?

The way people talk sometimes is just moronic... Look, no one hates Mayweather more than me. Trust me on that... But the fact remains that whenever an athlete is surpassing everyone and not just rising above the top level but in a way creating their own level there are bound to be questions. I think it's an athletes duty to keep the record straight and a true champion would ALWAYS want to shaow that they're the real deal and not a fairy tale. These questions and accusations are part of being the best. It's "the best's" job to dispell them... If they don't?... well....
Re: So now that Arum has called Mayweather/Pacquiao off...
The only thing thats made me suspicious of Pacquiao is the recent conduct of him and his team. When Mayweather Sr. made these allegations months ago i didn't pay any attention, i just thought "Its just Mayweather Sr talking shit again" but now i'm not so sure.
I think this whole issue will tarnish his reputation somewhat, people are going to look at his record now and say "well he could have been using here". I'm a huge admirer of Pacquiao, in his recent fights i've sat and watched in awe as he defied every belief i had by coming up the weights and destroying bigger men. But now there's doubts over whether some of these wins were legit.
I hope we still see this fight and that Pacquiao is clean, but i think regardless there'll always be that question mark over him, which is sad because his achievements have been remarkable, but his outright refusal for random testing makes it look suspicious.
Re: So now that Arum has called Mayweather/Pacquiao off...
I think there might always be a bad feeling towards Pac now.Even if they fight later in the year and he takes the blood tests people will say he new there was going to be random tests so he didnt use any PEDs.
It is a great shame this fight is off if he isnt using but he only has himself to blame imo for not taking the blood tests.

This wont happen but if all possible opponents stood together and wanted the testing, Manny will choose the same opponent regardless,(if he does even continue his career should everyone demand the same) and that opponent will get a weaker cleaner Manny and they may well get the win along with a big payday and a career boost;D

Hmmmm i appreciate what ya saying bud, but im not sure about ya hating Mayweather more than me ;D
I've pretty much kept out of this argument as i still believe it's Manny being Manny and Floyd being Floyd, and the fight will eventually be made ( seems far from that right now tho ). Why can they not not take the blood sample the day after or even 1hr after the fight if it's Manny's concern it will make him weaker before the fight ? Surely this would sufice and surely he cannot get rid of any drugs from his body 1hr after the fight can he ?

With the help of PED's yes, yes he is ...............
Personally because of his positioning where he is sharing p4p number 1 with floyd it makes it all the more importante and by not taking the fight it makes a bigger question on his career!
