Manny vs floyd is further away now than it was a few months back...

And I'll tell you why....

Manny had a huge bargaining tool in that due to his massive popularity, a lot of the revenue would come directly from his fans. Although floyd disputed this, it could still be claimed that the only reason floyd fought in huge huge fights was down to the popularity of his opponant (Hatton, DLH) rather than his own popularity.

This bargaining tool got thrown out of the window this weekend as the numbers for Floyd vs Mosley COULD have done around 4 million buys, which would dwarf what Pac vs Clottey did. And remember, Mosely has never had the PPV popularity of a Hatton or DLH.

Mayweathers team will know this and can give strong claim to Floyd being the legit 'Cash Cow' and the main draw of the fight. Not the pacman.

Bottom line. NO WAY IN HELL will they let pac do a 50/50 split. they'll offer 70/30 and tell him to think himself lucky.

The testing issue. Shane mosley did the test and didn't complain about it once. A president has been set. By refusing testing not only is he open to accusation by boxing fans and pundits a like for being a steroid user, he will also get accused of not being as much a man as shane mosley. And in a testosterone fuelled bravado sport like boxing no one want's to have their manhood questioned (ahem)...

The pound for pound issue. Before the weekend a hell of alot of people claimed manny to be the best pound for pound fighter on the planet. If Floyd wanted to have that title back on his name he'd have to prove it, and the only way to do that would be to get in with pacquiao. Essentially you could say Floyd needed Pac. After the weekend though, has the situation has changed?

Floyd not only defeated the best welter weight in the world (a man Pac actually avoided), he dominated him. AND at the same time showed that his chin and capacity to take a punch vastly exceeded what was first thought. The last thing to go is a fighters punch. Even if Mosley was shot (his previous fight and posts from many boxing fans on this very website providing evidence to the contrary) he would still retain the power that made him a multi weight world champ. And floyd took it. And smiled.

Shane Mosley was Floyd Mayweathers hardest fight...... and look how easy it was.

In comparison to Shane Mosley, Pacquiao's last foe, Joshua Clottey is a welter weight non entity. Maybe that's a little harsh but when comparing his career to that of Shane Mosley you get the picture.

After the week end and the level of last opponants is the pound for pound issue really still in dispute? Does Floyd really need Manny to prove anything? I'd say the table has turned. Manny now needs floyd.

And so it comes full circle. Manny may now need floyd, which would mean bowing to a much small split of the purse, having to do the random tests... If he didn't take the fight before why is he likely to take it now when he's going to be offered a deal thats not as good as the one before....

The saving grace for the boxing fan in this instance is money. This fight is actually worth more now... by a good few million. And as has been said before, it's too much money to turn down....

It can be argued that boxing needs this fight (and I'd agree with that) but do the boxers really need the fight?

I expect negotiations to open and collapse and Floyd to then go on to fight the winner of Cintron and Williams.... Providing it's Cintron...

Williams won't get down to 147 to fight floyd and I doubt Mayweather would go up to light middle to fight Williams.

Where Pac would go, who knows? Pac's fans will be happy watch him fight anyone do there is still plenty of money to be made in easy non risk fights in boxing. However more than likely he'd go full on into pollotics....

I dont think the Mayweather Mosley fight will come near 4m, I heard an estimate of 1.8m. Also, Mosley is head and shoulders a better draw than Clottey. Floyd definitely did himself some good with the Mosley fight but to say that Floyd derserves a 70/30 split is ludicrous. I would assume Pac would rightfully laugh at the request.

I think Floyd cares more about making millions than Pac so I actually think Floyd needs Pac more than Pac needs Floyd.........

I see the money split being the biggest issue now. With Manny saying on his web site that he would do blood test up to 14 days, i think that will work out. No way does Floyd consider doing 50/50, especially considering his PPV numbers after this fight, which should be around 2 million. I'm thinking 55/45 or 60/40, i'm just praying this fight happens.

It's actually closer now to happening, as Manny has now come out and said he'd be willing to have blood drawn 14 days before the fight, whereas before he wouldn't go past 24 days.

i'll retire temporarily being a boxing fan if floyd-pacquiao can't be made. it's a big joke to boxing fans if the biggest fight they are asking for will not be delivered. i'll be greatly disappointed if all those involved, the boxers, promoters, etc. can't find a way to make this fight a reality.

of course floyd-pacquiao is not everything in boxing. i reckon i'll be back supporting boxing once more after the disappointment subsides. ;D

There's definitely more to negotiate now. Floys will want at least 60-40 depending on the PPV numbers later this week. He'll also want testing up to the day of the fight, Manny having agreed to 21 days (I think) during the first round of negotiations. Neither guy really needs the other. Manny will have seen the Mosley fight and be thinking fuck that, I'm not going to let myself be made to look that bad. He'll also have seen round 2 and thought when I do get through to him I won't have any effect. Manny will not now be fancying the fight at all.

Williams would cut his left leg off to make 147 for a Floyd payday, he'd definitely make 147. And nobody set any presidents.

If money wasn't an issue before why would it be an issue now? Nothing has changed. Floyd's biggest numbers before the Mosley fight were already higher than Manny's biggest numbers and they agreed to the financial terms then, it was only the test that prevented the fight. It's just a question on whether or not one of them will budge with the dates of drawing blood.

If it is true that the Mayweather-Mosley only garnered 1.1 - 1.2 million PPV, then the 50/50 split between Pacquiao and Mayweather should still be alive. And with Manny agreeing to a blood test 14 days before the fight, this brings us closer to the fulfillment of their mega-bout.

Let's get the fight on!!!

Lower numbers at the weekend could be the saviour of the fight IMO.

And I agree Floyd will tell Pac to take his 14 days and fuck off. shane didn't need a 14 day cut off.....
