8 Alexander
9 Kotelnik
10 Kotelnik
11 Kotelnik

115-113 Kotelnik
Im Devon Alexander fan, but im sorry he didn't win this fight. After the 5th round, Andriy Kotelnik turned it up, constantly landing stiff jabs and right hands, i don't care if Devon Alexander threw 100 punches in a round, most of his punches were blocked or wern't that effective.
Devon Alexander to me looked too erratic, it kinda reminded me of Jermain Taylor vs Arthur Abraham. With Jermain Taylor throwing alot of wasteful punches, and not concentrating enough on accuracy.
Finally what in the world was Harold Lederman watching ? that was terrible scoring.
Re: Devon Alexander vs Andriy Kotelnik My Scorecard
I had it 116/112 robbery for me like you second half of the fight Kotelnik basically battered him, Alexander was running and throwing tip tappy shit that were just hitting gloves, Kotelnik won this fight clearly.
Watched it twice and Kotelnik was the daddy in there by far.
Re: Devon Alexander vs Andriy Kotelnik My Scorecard
Kotelnik is a proven world-class fighter. He only became a shit-cunt when Khan thrashed him ().
He had ZERO chance of getting the decision in Alexander's backyard. That's just the shitty way boxing works.

I thought people might of been going over the top, but they sure wern't. Devon Alexander seemed to throw too many wasteful punches, Andriy Kotelnik was just waiting in the early rounds, then he really went to work in the 2nd half, almost winning every round after the 5th round.
I think i might of underestimated Andriy Kotelnik, i know he's quite good technically. And he's quite sturdy, i was expecting a 12 rounder. But he gave a very good account of himself.
IMO he done ok against Amir Khan aswell, but he waited too long to get going. I thought he swept the later rounds vs Amir Khan if i remember rightly.

That's karma for the decision he got against Maidana in his home town.
Like you said, the shitty way boxing works some times.
I thought the Maidana decision was fair. It was a close fight that could have gone either way. I think I scored it for Maidana by a round, but I can't really remember. I do recall that there were a lot of close rounds and I think the decision was justified.
Re: Devon Alexander vs Andriy Kotelnik My Scorecard
Yeah ledermans scoring was atrocious, like devon was throwin punches that weren't touching kotelnik at all, I mean not even gloves or anything, just air. As someone else said kotelnik was the daddy in there and I would have much rather been kotelnik for the majority of the fight. I actually expected a borring fight with devon geting an easy decision so when it actually turned out into a nice fight I was pleasantly surprised but yeah the decision sucked big time. I think lederman scores decently most of the time, but every once in a while there is one of these fights where you're just left to wonder what in the heck he was watching.
Re: Devon Alexander vs Andriy Kotelnik My Scorecard
I didn't score the fight. I wished I had, but Harold Lederman was making me sick with his shitty scorecard.
I haven't been this upset with Lederman since Barrera-Marquez. He scored it 114-113 for Barrera.
Re: Devon Alexander vs Andriy Kotelnik My Scorecard
I didn't score the fight but I definitely thought the fight was close but should have went to Kotelnyk because he was accurate and more effective. Lederman was scoring horribly and was even justifying it with bullcrap lines. Alexander was throwing very predictable 1-2s and Kotelnyk found him all night. Before this fight I only saw Alexander fight twice so I didn't want to express how overrated I thought he was but after this fight I am getting very convinced at how predictable and one dimensional Alexander is. He has minimal if any adjustments. And I also thought that Johnson/Cloud was an either way fight not an 8-4 fight by far.
Re: Devon Alexander vs Andriy Kotelnik My Scorecard
Another case where a fight is judged by perception, not by what actually lands. I would love to have harrold over my crib and go over this fight round by round and have him justify what he saw. I wanna jump on and bash the guy too, but sitting ringside maybe he was seeing something we just didn't see on t.v. Harrold isn't the first person to come up with a retarded scorecard in a fight so i just wonder......I always like to go back over fights with the sound down and judge it round by round not the fight as a whole and see what i get. Gotta do that tonight. I really don't see anyway i'll come up with devon winning that fight but we'll see. There are set rules in boxing, and people like max k sayin he judges fights by who he'd rather be instead of punches landed is the problem. Same with tarver giving people rounds just because they landed one or two big punches. Reguardless of if we like it or not a guy touching the other 20 times in a round shouldn't be overlooked just cause he gets wobbled by one or two punches. This is boxing no KO'ing. It's not the more exciting fighter is the guy who lands more effectively who should be given the nod. This almost never happens though....Sucks for kotelnik, but like every fighter he knew his chance of winning a decision that night.
Re: Devon Alexander vs Andriy Kotelnik My Scorecard
Get the fight on my computer for 2 hours now, will give it a look and share my impressions with ya afterward but as I see it at the moment, it seems like that the general consent here is that Kotelnik should have had the nudge.

God what a horribly scored fight (Lederman). I was going berzerk! Awesome fight too

yeah.. at the final bell, when i saw kotelnik raising his hands i was saying to my self why is he raising his hands? does he really think hes gonna take devon's belt in devon's turf? he had to do what pirog did if he really wanted to beat devon and he was capable of doing so.

My problem with that theory is that the unofficial judges (be it Ledderman or whoever) scoring the fight almost always score it for the house fighter or the favorite. I'd be inclined to think it was nothing more than differences in perception if the underdog or the non-HBO/non-cash cow fighter (in this case) was up on the unofficial card every once in a while, but that almost never seems to happen.
Re: Devon Alexander vs Andriy Kotelnik My Scorecard
I had it 7-5 Kotelnik. There was a TON of close rounds that I could see how they could go either way though. Every round 2nd-8th was a pick em imo (bar the 6th which Kotelnik took). On clear cut rounds I had it 4-1 Kotelnik and the other 7 rounds were just what you like really. I guess the judges scored every single one of the close ones for Alexander. I can see a draw but Alexander never deserved to win and in reality I think Kotelnik deserved the nod.
Round 1 Alexander won. Rounds 6,9,10,12 were Kotelniks. The rest were v close, generally a case of a massive disparity between mass activity against cleaner punching.
