Amir Khan vs Marcos Maidana Spoliers............
Just a few things i wanted to discuss about this fight, Marcos Maidana disappointed me with his unsportsmanlike attitude. Amir Khan was just showing respect, and i hate fighters who do what Marcos Maidana did.
As for the fight, well cracking fight obviously. I don't really think Amir Khan's chin has improved really, i just think he knows how the survive better which is good. The shots he took against Breidis Prescott were early in the fight, and he was caught cold nothing you can do about that.
I've always thought Amir Khan had heart, he's showed it a few times in his career, so im not shocked but what he did tonight. But i still think he looks very vulnerable, and he often loses concentration too quickly.
As i said in the other thread, im not so sure he would beat Breidis Prescott in a rematch in all honesty. Marcos Maidana should of had him out of there, but he smothered his own work and threw alot of arm punches. Plus he doesn't have that real explosive power like Breidis Prescott does.
Im not saying Marcos Maidana isn't a good puncher, of course he is and i give alot of credit to Amir Khan he made Britain very proud.
But Breidis Prescott is tall and rangey. And he has that explosive power, and if he got Amir Khan in that amount of trouble. He would of finished him IMO. And i heard they were talking about a possible rematch, with Breidis Prescott so im all for it.
All in all though a very good fight and props to both men.
Re: Amir Khan vs Marcos Maidana Spoliers............
I think Khan would murder Prescott now. Other than that I agree with pretty much everything you said.
He showed a great will to win tonight that can only benefit him but as far as wanting the likes of Mayweather?? Forget it. Floyd will KO Khan, he just isn't disciplined enough and Mayweathers timing and accuracy would just crucify Khan.
Re: Amir Khan vs Marcos Maidana Spoliers............
I agree with most of what you said apart from the Prescott claim. I think he takes Prescott apart inside 6 rounds now.
Kevin Mitchell dominated Prescott and then got battered by Katsidis. Prescott is nowhere near world level imo he's looked awful in every fight since beating Khan. In my opinion he just got lucky landing a home run early.
Maidana is a world class slugger, absolutely phenomenal. You don't force a fighter of the calibre of Victor Ortiz to quit by not being world class. He just beat the heart out of Ortiz. Khan was tested in the same way and he stood up to it and held on to the end.
Prescott is no more a test to Khan now than Cory Sanders would be Wladimir Klitschko.
Re: Amir Khan vs Marcos Maidana Spoliers............
I agree about Maidana attitude. I like him before tonight, he acted like an a-hole in there. He does have power and butly sadly he is very limited.
As for Khan I think he did great. He got into trouble but he survive. He deserves the win and he took some monstrous shots and stay'd up.
I think Khan needs to improve his stamina more, keep putting combinations together and get out of the way. He has the hand speed, now he needs to work on his footwork and keep his stamina intensely high. I don't think his chin is that bad, he took a lot of shots from a hard puncher in Maidana but he never went down. He wouldnt hold much but he ran which is the same. Khan is still very young, if he can improve his stamina, footwork and put on more combinations for 12 rounds he will be hard to beat/ catch.

Is Marcos Maidana any real better than Breidis Prescott ? i don't see that he is to be honest, and i still think Breidis Prescott has a great chance at knocking out Amir Khan.
Actually i think style wise Breidis Prescott is actually more dangerous, because of his height and reach.
It would be nice to see him try and revenge that loss at some point. But i can totally understand why he wouldn't take the fight, and he looks to try and unify.
As for Floyd Mayweather Jr, that was just all talk from Amir Khan. I don't think deep down he actually wants to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. And no one know's if Floyd Mayweather Jr's court case is going to go smoothly either.
Lastly as i said his next fight will probably be against Alexander/Bradley winner. But personally i would love to see him revenge his only loss, or a fight against Victor Ortiz would be interesting.
Re: Amir Khan vs Marcos Maidana Spoliers............
Speaking of Wlad, I think Khan can have a career similar of that to Wlad but at 140. A boxer with fantastic skills and heart but chinny.
Re: Amir Khan vs Marcos Maidana Spoliers............
I don't think Prescott would beat Khan now. He has slipped off the radar.
I do think Maidana smothered his work though, but he will learn from that. I want to see a rematch, I really believe that Khan has reached his limit and that Maidana can take him out.
He just needs to take the experience of the early rounds, change the ref and give his punches the space they need and I am confident that this will be enough to knock Khan out again.

I agree, I think Khan deserves a lot of credit. He survive and put on a beating on Maidana.
Re: Amir Khan vs Marcos Maidana Spoliers............
Maybe im overrating Breidis Prescott, i know he hasn't looked good in some fights. But it still would be an interesting match up. And he has the explosive power plus Height/Reach, but it probably won't happen anyway.

I dont think he can be called chinny anymore. He got caught a lot and didnt go down. Sure he ran but other fighters who would of caught the same punches would of gone down right away.
You have a point about comparing Khan to Wlad but who wouldnt have gotten rock from those shots? Khan stayed up, IMO thats an accomplisment. Not only that he also put on a beating on Maidana and actually won the bout.

He is chinny he was rocked with every flush shot, its just he's got alot of spirit and a good heart. Which he's always showed, but that don't change the fact that he's chinny, you can't suddenly get a better chin Rain's he will always be chinny.
Its just he's learned how to survive better, which is good for him. Terry Norris also learned this and also learned how to become a better cautious boxer.
Both men are similar in that department, but Terry Norris is still a class above Amir Khan. And Amir Khan need's to not waste so much energy. And he needs to be able to fight a smart fight for 12 rounds. Not keep losing his concentration every time he gets hit flush. Because that will lead him to getting KO'ed.
In truth Amir Khan showed alot of bottle to stay up, but Marcos Maidana should of had him out of there. Its just he smothered his work, Amir Khan had no legs for literally most of the later rounds.

I also think Maidana held back a little too much in the round following. He should have just gone at it 100mph in that round too. He should never have given Khan the chance to breathe. Just maybe he didn't realise just how wasted Khan was or was having a rest himself.
If he was just a little more canny he would have got Khan out of there and that is why I want to see a rematch.
Re: Amir Khan vs Marcos Maidana Spoliers............
i was a maidana fan before the fight and now after seeing him tonight against amir khan, i'm an even bigger fan of his. this fan has the biggest nuts and guts i've seen in a long time. how many fighters get up from a liver shot he took from khan. when that happened, i thought it was over but was surprised he was able to continue.
let me say something about khan! he showed me something tonight. sure he was hurt late in the fight but he didn't crumble and kept on battling. i think he's answered his chin question tonight. maidana punches are like getting kicked by a mule. people are going to get on him for running late in the fight but he did the right thing to survive. anyways, khan showed me some heart tonight and i feel he's one of the better, younger world champions in boxing. a amir khan/timothy bradley fight would be sweet!

He took a lot of power punches and never went down. Chinny fighters would of gone down. Khan took a monster shot from prescott and got up before he was stop. Im not saying his got a great chin or he was caught cold. Im saying he got caught and just like many fighters go knocked out. Against Maidana, Im not saying his chin improve but Im saying he is not as chinny as people are saying. Maidana can hurt people we have all seen that and he drops people but he didnt drop Khan after hitting him flush about 10 times, IMO would of drop other fighters. Khan got rock but stayed up and often got himself into harms way by being too aggressive. He ran and survive but he also put on a beating on Maidana.
