Re: Hardest Fights to Judge
Off the top just rewatched McCallum vs Toney 2 few days ago...this time I had McCallum by 1.
Every step possible should be made to avoid scoring rounds even.
Re: Hardest Fights to Judge
Norton-Ali 2 and 3.
Pacquiao-JMM 2.
De La Hoya-Quartey.
Leonard-Hagler.
Just a few off the top of my head.

McCallum wins that for me both times, cannot see why Toney get the decision even the first one which was much closer. I also had Hopkins beat Taylor but the hardest rounds to score are the ones where they do naff all and just pose and throw no meaningful punches.
Re: Hardest Fights to Judge
I can't think of any fights that I've had a hard time scoring. But I will say I REALLY hate judging those "feeling out" rounds, where guys are pulling their punches, gauging their range and nothing is really landing
Re: Hardest Fights to Judge
Morales/Barrera I
Gatti/Ward I
De La Hoya/Quartey
Bowe/Holyfield I
Re: Hardest Fights to Judge
Trinidad/De LaHoya. After the first five rounds I seem to always have it 2-2-1, but usually with different guys winning different rounds.
Also, for years, just about any fight on HBO, since Lampley decides before hand who he wants to win and calls the fight that way. Watching them with no sound is often like watching another fight. Chavez-Taylor I is a good example of this.
Re: Hardest Fights to Judge
Pacquiao vs Morales 1 always makes me wonder. Although I think Morales clearly won the fight it is just something about the flow of that fight that made it difficult for me in a couple of those rounds to score. Note....if you watch this fight on mute it is alot closer than the HBO team made it out to be.

i had Morales winning by at least 3 to 4 rounds, and that's giving away the final round cause that's exactly what Morales did with his southpaw stint
Re: Hardest Fights to Judge
Hopkins vs Taylor 1 and 2. U really have to dissect a Hopkins fight not only round by round but punch by punch. It may be asking to much of the judges though. I have the benefit of replay, slow motion, and going back. The only fight I truly only seen Hopkins loose was Roy Jones 1. Both Taylor fights could have been both a Draw. Calzaghe also. Very unique fighter, one of a kind.

Re: Hardest Fights to Judge
Hardest ones for fans to agree on is when one outworks the other and lands more softer faster shots but the other one is landing real shots that beat the crap out of the one doing all the visual work. One stands there at the finish unscathed the others been in a war with a mess of a face and some score it like we should an amateur fight and others score it like a pro fight. Its hard to draw the line there.
