Rafael Marquez VS Toshiaki Nishioka on the horizon Oct 1
Rafael Marquez claims to be rejuvenated under the guidance of Daniel Zaragoza and nothing is set in stone but he plans to take a tuneup up bout next month against Euesebio Osejo before heading into a title shot against Nishoka in Oct. Gamboa fight was also offered to him but he'd rather face Nishioka for bigger payday and title.. ( turning down Gamboa was a wise move )
Who wins this fight?
Re: Rafael Marquez VS Toshiaki Nishioka on the horizon Oct 1
Raffy will have the typical puncher's chance. But Nishioka is an awfully good boxer. Far better than JuanMa.
Re: Rafael Marquez VS Toshiaki Nishioka on the horizon Oct 1
The weight is a huge plus for Marquez. He's a different fighter at 122 than at 126. I think he gets Nishioka out of there around the 6th or 7th round
Re: Rafael Marquez VS Toshiaki Nishioka on the horizon Oct 1
Nishioka is a bad dude and he's one of my favorites but I dont see how he can beat Rafael at 122. Nishioka is effective when he's in control but when he's pushed back by someone who can punch, he gets sloppy and clinches alot, unneccesarily. He inside game/mid range is pretty average and be becomes mediocre in those situations.
Rafael can take nishioka's punches but nishioka can't do the same. He gets taken out brutally.

I see it something similar. People point to Marquez age (36) as a factor. I don't see it as much as a factor considering Nishioka will be 35 himself come fight time. They both have had 45 career fights. So there about equal in wear, tear and experience. So it comes down to skills. Which I think Marquez trumps him. Jhonny Gonzalez had the blueprint to beat Nishioka. Problem for Gonzalez was his jaw is 100% certified glass. He just can't take a flush punch. Marquez jaw ain't steel. But it's better than Gonzalez. And he handles punches better. He'll handle Nishioka

Same age maybe, but same wear and tear? I don't think Nishioka has had anywhere near the wars Raffy has, has he?

Well his fights with Sahaprom weren't exactly easy. But your right. Very few have had the wars Marquez has had

I don't see Marquez beating Nishioka unless this was in Mexico- then he always has a chance on the cards. But most likely it will be in Japan so I say Nishioka wins it- prob on a ko . btw- I read someone said Nishioka is better then Juanma- no way in hell. Juanma will be back

Lets not get carried away now. I think Nishioka is a fine fighter. But he's not in Marquez's league. Yes I'm aware Marquez is passed his prime. But so is Nishioka. I see Marquez stopping him no matter where they fight
And I'm sure Lopez will be back. Question is would he have learned anything?
Re: Rafael Marquez VS Toshiaki Nishioka on the horizon Oct 1
This should be a top class fight, I edge to Marquez, but he's gonna have to be in boxer mode to win this. If he starts getting aggressive I think Nishioka takes this.

You think Nishioka would win a shoot out with Marquez?

I think Rafa does not have the capacity to take punches he once did and Nishioka has straight shots that may put him down. I think Rafa's just been through so much man, it's got to be catching up with him soon.
