wworst ref in history has got to be GEST12345, he tried to deduct 2 points for the use of the word "fuck". The ringside doctor AND Flip Homansky BOTH overruled him. :cool:

Joe Cortez is perhaps the worst hack ref I have ever seen.
Mercante JR is a fucking disgrace to our sport , in that clip what is he looking at , god sake, he should never set foot in a ring EVER again .
Cortez's performance 4 hatton mayweather was abismal!! He might aswell of wrapped mayweather in cotton wool b4 the fight!! Slapping hattons arms when he tried to get close was pathetic even more so when floyd was using his forearms/elbows to mix it up, what made it worse 4me was the fact mayweather didint need any help from the ref, as hes talenteded enuf to beat hatton on his own!!Quote:

Ive never been a fan of Mercante. Fact is you can't miss him in the ring so thats in indictment in and of itself. For longevity and namesake that was a bad call that night but there are shit dreadful refs in boatloads. Worst all time and grand prize winner for me was ref in Juan M Coggi vs Eder Gonzalez 1....he literally was criminal and on the take. One that sticks out also is ref in Antonio Tarver vs Harding 2. Tarver yelled and berated lost and incompetent ref to stop it after damn near killing Harding. The guy was literally having a senior moment and lost.
All that aside. Joe Cortez is king shit heel as far as refs. He is horrendous. Any knob that makes himself a point of attention "I'M fair but I'M firm" before the bell even rings needs to be brought down a peg or three.

It would've been stopped with 2 minutes left, so why not 2 seconds? The referee doesn't have a watch (for good reason) If he considered the time, he would've been helping Taylor. Time is not a factor until the bell has rung. You can win in the 1st second or last second. Great decision by Steele!
