This was my round by round from last night
Round 1: more or less even, Pacquiao landed a nice left, Marquez landed good shots to the body
Round 2: Marquez, lands the cleaner sharper punches, Pacquiao throwing a lot of jabs and faking but not landing anything
Round 3: Marquez, lands more clean punches to the head and body, Pacquiao not throwing enough, only landed a good right hook
Round 4: Pacquiao, finally starts throwing more and landing the left, Marquez lands a couple nice right counters but is out worked and out landed
Round 5: Marquez, effectively counters Pacquiao throughout the round, landing the better punches
Round 6: Marquez, Marquez landed some nice counter overhand rights
Round 7: Marquez, landing the harder sharper counter punches, Pacquiao can't avoid the uppercut nor the overhand right
Round 8: Marquez, Manny has no answer for the counter punches, he backs up in angles and still is caught
Round 9: Pacquiao, lands good combos, Marquez still lands good counters but takes most the round off
Round 10: Marquez, pretty slow paced round, Marquez lands better counter punches and Pacquiao looks distracted by the blood
Round 11: Marquez, counter punching, counter punching, counter punching, for every left Pacquiao lands, Marquez lands a flurry of hard rights, left hooks and uppercuts
Round 12: Pacquiao, stalked most the round, but Marquez landed the better punches
My Final Score: 117 Marquez 113 Pacquiao, Winner Marquez
I had it 7-5 Marquez but that was giving Pacquiao everything it was possible to give him. 8-4 is a good score too.
I'm disgusted by this and think I am done with boxing - it just seems pointless now.
I know people might think that if you score it by just 2 to one guy you can't call it a robbery if the other guy gets it BUT to give that one to Pacquiao you had to score rounds for him that he just did not win in any way shape or form.
^Good outline of the fight. I think it's safe to say that Marquez won by a decent margin - despite Arum proclaiming after the fight that it would only be Mexicans that had him ahead. What a racist money-grubbing pig... sad that his cash cow just took a beating.
The end of the night I gave it 8 rounds to 4 Marquez. I had a floater in there which I originally gave to Marquez in which it would have been 9 rounds to 3.Then I said " ah let the champ have one.
how the hell does anyone give jmm the last 2 rounds. He damn near stopped fighting cause of nacho. wtf
8 4 marquez and that's bein generous to pac
I thought Marquez was robbed. 118-110
It was the worst fight out of the 3. Both guys were too cautious and slower than they used to be. Looks like both are past their best and the fight never really caught fire despite afew good exchanges. Marquez always in control and showed that the wieght wasnt an issue but neither guy commited so they both left it in the hads of the judges.
Watching it now will post my scores in a bit.....round 1 hard to judge will give it to pac - head shots over body shots wins it for me this round
8-3 and 1 tied in favour of Marquez.
So i guess that would be 117-112
See above for Rd 1 :)
Rd2 - JMM
Rd3 - JMM
Rd4 - JMM
Rd5 - JMM - Clear win
Rd 6 - Pac - good work from both and if you favoured JMM's work no argument from me could have gone either way
Rd7 - JMM, landed some good shots. one thing i notice with JMM he doesn't always follow through with his shots he is happy to land and get away. He could cause more damage if he committed to his shots a bit more
Rd8 - JMM
Rd9 - Pac. Great round, plenty of 2 way traffic but Pac probably landed more quality shots. When he lets his combos go he has a lot of success. Marquez doing well to stay away and not get trapped on the ropes.
Rd 10 - Pac, but close another round that others could see different.
R11 - pac, ditto 10
R12 - JMM not a lot of action but Marquez edged it.
Jmm 115 - 113 Pac I think, if my maths is right
I think there was some rounds without a lot of action which made them hard to score but overall JMM landed the better shots, His movement was great he didnt get drawn in to an all out war but when there was exchanges he was holding his own. Pac seemed unable to close the gap effectively and he was bouncing around too much without doing much, why wasn't he exploding in to attacks and throwing a high volume of punches from different angles? Jmm was in great condition (both were)
Round 1 could have been given to Marquez, as could round 11 and some other rounds you can change round who you gave them to but either way you look at it JMM wins.
Pac did not seem as though he thought he won but of course he isn't going to say that. Wasn't as bad as Lewis v Holyfield 1 but the wrong guy definitely got the decision i reckon. Good fight though.
People will forget about this when all the casual fans start shouting for Pac vs Mayweather to happen in May
2 of the judges had Pac actually up 4 rounds to 2 after 6 rounds.
they all thought Pac won round 2. Which I'm perplexed by. That was Marquez's round.
Which didn't make sense. When you score a fight there are rounds you score for 1 guy and you could flip as you admit it was a close close round. Round 3 was like that to me. Round 2 wasn't!!!
Round 8- 2 of the judges disagreed with you. Another round I scored for Marquez and didn't put close beside to indicate it could easily be flipped.
Probably Marquez by 2 but I wasn't surprised by Pac getting the decision
The judge who gave it Pac by 4 wants sacking
But how many times we said this over last 20 years
I had a clear victory for Marquez 8 rounds to 4.
I gave Marquez rounds 2,3,4,5,7,8,11,12.
I gave Pacquiao rounds 1,6,9,10
Most rounds were competitive but Marquez edged most of them out with the cleaner harder shots and the better ring generalship.
Marquez's work wasn't pretty but it was effective and it was certainly better than what Pacquiao was able to do round by round.
Pacquiao had a good case for winning their first two fights ( I thought he won the first and lost the second) but this third fight was definitely Marquez's night and it got robbed from him.
I will rewatch the fight later and post my second scorecard because when i scored it first time i was very tired. :)
