Who cares? Manfredo came in 1 pound less. So the weight was irrelevant.
If they want to step up in competition they could face Paul Williams. That would be an exciting fight, I think Williams' range would give Chavez a really hard night but Chavez is willing to take a punch to get in and he does great work to the body.
I think if Chavez stays busy he could squeeze out a win.
He came in at above 180 from what I gathered. He's a huge middleweight, but as long as he can make the limit, he's a middleweight. He's not ready for Sergio; no shame there really. I believe Darren Barker would be a solid fight. It's a step up from Manfredo and Rhodes, but not too big of a step up.
same can be said about Jr against any REAL opponent, shit he doesn't even have the balls to take the likes of Alvarez, Pirog, Lee, Sturm, etc. and much less Martinez, there was a reason why the WBC had to steal away the title just to be able to hand it to Jr.
That is huge weight to shift and makes sense why he does not want to fight Alvarez at the lower weight because he has no chance of making it at all.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the WBC supposed to force Chavez Jr. to either defend his belt against Sergio or vacate it after this last fight?
I say Baby Chavez is ready for Sergio Martinez. Throw him in the ring with him NOW.
NOW damn it.... NOW.
Bu-hahhahahahahaha....
