Re: Pacquiao's in-fighting
Pacquiao is to honest a fighter to develop infighting technique it's just not his thing. He's also too small at his weight class although he has proven to have the chin for it.
Re: Pacquiao's in-fighting
He's got great work ethics and very obedient to his coach. He follows specific instructions and doesn't deviate.
lnteresting compubox fact. l snipped this picture from the Chavez fight...

l didn't know he landed that much body punches against clottey.
Now l know he also got that talent. Then he must not go headhunting right away against Bradley. He should be defensive minded in the first couple of rounds and slowly take away Bradley's strength with serries of body blows.

Anybody could have had those numbers against a guy just standing there with his hands covering his face.
Re: Pacquiao's in-fighting
Pacquiao's infighting isn't good but I don't think he needs it that much because he has enough hand and foot speed to move in, land a flurry and move out. Unless it's Marquez or Mayweather then I don't know what he needs to do.

Pacquiao only has 1 good punch to the body and that's the straight left from the outside or mid range, not hooks and uppercuts on the inside.
Re: Pacquiao's in-fighting
I do not believe that it is the best interest of any southpaw to be on the inside because it negates his biggest advantage, that being the ability to create advantageous punching angles. Any southpaw will be more effective from either the outside or as he moves in.
Pacquiao, with the advantage in speed of hand and foot that he typically possesses, would be foolish to let himself get conned into fighting an inside fight.
Re: Pacquiao's in-fighting
It's how he comes in and how Roach teachs most of his guys, People talk about Manny getting in and out on guys, but he always flies in and the gets out quickly once the damage is done. THe problem is that once a guy uses enough footwork, distance, and angles to negate his combinations like Barrera II, Marquez fights, parts of the Mosley fight, after round six against Cotto. that Pacquiao doesn't have a way to cut off the ring. Because his style is so hoppy he can't walk a guy down effectively, and he can't have an effective lower base while fighting on the inside against bigger guys. Mayweather basically weighs in the same as Manny, but he fights on the inside against anyone. He gets the right angle, even though he usually falls in a little too much after his right hand and then sets himself quickly, then throws punches. Pacquiao needs to find a different gear to come in on his opponent, a way to walk them down and get that outside right foot without using way too much footwork. People talk about Pacquiao getting old and that's why he is cramping, but actually he is getting better, and using a lot of footwork that is way more tiring on his body. He trying to get angles and do everything super fast, but he doesn't need to. He can maintain a lot of that speed and get even better angles if he incorporated how guys like JCC used to walk in on guys, or the old school guys from way back when. Pacquiao will always be a handful for anyone with his speed and power and fluidity but his inside fighting needs work, and though he can trade punches on the inside, if a guy has the better angle then he is screwed, which is why we saw MArquez land a lot of clean blows in close quarters against Manny when he didn't against Floyd. Now I am not trying to ride FLoyd's balls either, he shouldn't fall in behind on shot then reset, there is a way to come in quickly and stay in balance, and so that he could keep combinations going without sacrificing defensively, but he has found a style that works for him and likely we won't see it change.

There is nothing dishonest about fighting on the inside. As for Pacquiao's weight class, that seems to be anything but an accepted limit. He is more than capable of throwing up close and maintaining weird angles, his biggest problem seems to be handling someone who can read his intentions well and counter. He is also while still pretty fast, slowing down.
While, I'm not calling in-fighting tactics dishonest and dirty, the physical use of the head, shoulders, clinching and legs are not exactly clean and honest according to the rules. Some fighters find subtle ways to use those parts of the body illegally to gain leverage. The use of such tactics is not tolerated by some refs and is by others.

? THis makes no sense, Watch Mayweather-Judah, and you'll see once Mayweather gets comfortable how angles play a roll in close with Southpaw-orthodox. Or watch Whitaker fight... The closer you are the more important using angles becomes because your speed means less on the inside. Pacquiao creates openings and holes, but he uses way too much footwork to create those holes. By too much footwork I mean he literally moves way too far to create something he could with far less movement if he was smarter about it. All that hoping around the opponent is pointless and uses far more energy than is necessary to create the same effect if you are smart.

Not his style to be on the inside but try watching him fight Cotto while against the ropes, and then turn it around and knock him down.
