This is a technical boxing fans dream match, I personally am very interested in seeing it happen. Dawson is bigger but I dont think he has the tenacity to use that to his advantage, I can see Ward taking it to the bigger Dawson and fighting him in the style that he fought Alan Green and taking another victory.

The only thing that leads me to believe Dawson has a chance is that Ward hasn't used a new game plan in something like his last five fights so it gives Dawson a really good odds at getting the right tactics in place.
Good fight though ... I hope some of the other SMW's move up too.

A couple of things....
#1 Chad Dawson is not a smart fighter, neither is he technically sound. If he was either he'd use his height and reach and lure opponents in to counter punches. He doesn't, he digs his shoulder in and then pushes off to create space to work with. His defense is ok, but the tactics he uses are beyond moronic.
#2 I'd rather sandpaper my nipples off than watch these two fight
I think that Dawson has speed and power enough to create some difficulties for Ward. I also think that his technique is better than what some might say. Actually, I think he has a good technique, he has one big flaw though: He's not mind steady and he's easy to unsettle. That can play big against a guy like Ward.Quote:

Dawson's style is the main reason Pascal beat him and the main reason Cloud would demolish him. You just can't fight one armed the way he does, keep giving up height & reach, and smothering his own punches and win vs any and every style. If you press a guy like Ward he'll retreat and walk you into shots. If you press a guy like Cloud he'll press right back and if you're packing a .22 vs a guy who's using a .45 then you better either have a lot of ammo and fire off quickly and accurately or just hope the guy with the .45 runs out of shells.Quote:

If you struggle with Hopkins why do you want to fight Ward? I guess he's trying to bank on that Ward may or may not have a chin. Is Ward fighting him at light heavy or is Dawson moving down?
I heard Showtime wasn't interested in the fight
HBO is interested in the fight.
Dawson has physical advantages over Ward, as long as the weight drain doesn't hurt him too much if they fight at a catch weight.
