Ward VS Dawson in the works....

This is a technical boxing fans dream match, I personally am very interested in seeing it happen. Dawson is bigger but I dont think he has the tenacity to use that to his advantage, I can see Ward taking it to the bigger Dawson and fighting him in the style that he fought Alan Green and taking another victory.

The only thing that leads me to believe Dawson has a chance is that Ward hasn't used a new game plan in something like his last five fights so it gives Dawson a really good odds at getting the right tactics in place.

It's a good tactical fight. I know some aren't excited about the style match-up, but I disagree. They should do it in Oakland in the fall.

It would be interesting, but I'd rather see Bute- Ward first ( if Bute gets past Froch) . Dawson -Ward has a big chance of being ugly, but I can definately see this one happening in the future.

off topic- but I think it would be a smart move for Andre Dirrell to face Dawson. He'd have a great chance of becoming the LHW champ

A couple of things....
#1 Chad Dawson is not a smart fighter, neither is he technically sound. If he was either he'd use his height and reach and lure opponents in to counter punches. He doesn't, he digs his shoulder in and then pushes off to create space to work with. His defense is ok, but the tactics he uses are beyond moronic.

I think that Dawson has speed and power enough to create some difficulties for Ward. I also think that his technique is better than what some might say. Actually, I think he has a good technique, he has one big flaw though: He's not mind steady and he's easy to unsettle. That can play big against a guy like Ward.

I've wanted this fight since the Super 6 ended. I was really leaning in favor of Dawson before, but I'm finding myself more and more persuaded by people pointing to Ward's incredible level of determination and will to win. I still do think Dawson has nearly all of the physical and athletic advantages -- speed, power, height, reach, reflexes. It's about as close to a 50/50 I can think of at the elite levels.

And if they make it in Oakland, I will be at ringside for sure.

You just can't fight one armed the way he does, keep giving up height & reach, and smothering his own punches and win vs any and every style. If you press a guy like Ward he'll retreat and walk you into shots. If you press a guy like Cloud he'll press right back and if you're packing a .22 vs a guy who's using a .45 then you better either have a lot of ammo and fire off quickly and accurately or just hope the guy with the .45 runs out of shells.

Frankly, I think Oakland is the only logical place for it. Ward has a good fanbase there from what I've heard, and Dawson lacks a fanbase. I'm not sure it is the type of fight that does well in Vegas. Maybe though. Ringside in Oakland for Ward-Dawson would be brilliant.

Dawson has physical advantages over Ward, as long as the weight drain doesn't hurt him too much if they fight at a catch weight.
