We all remember the destruction of Buddhist statues in Afghanistan and the persecution of non-muslims etc and now with their new found power, the happy gentleman pictured in the article wants to destroy 100% of the glories of ancient Egypt. Super cool, I'm happy Mubarak is gone, aren't you?

It is up to Egyptians how their country is governed and run. If they want moderates they can have them. If they want nutters, they can have them. Egyptians know how to topple governments if they abuse and so it is now up to them. It is none of our business. Would we allow St. Pauls Cathedral to be destroyed? No. I highly doubt Egyptians would let their prize tourism and cultural assets be destroyed either.

It is how the rules and laws are applied and interpreted that is the issue. We have seen women being oppressed in Afghanistan but in other Muslim countries women are judges, lawyers and doctors.
