I can't wait for Oscar De la Hoya to eat his words!!!!
I'm sick of hearing his bullshit about he made the blueprint to beat Floyd, when he lost the fight and how he's rabbiting on how Canelo is going to knock out floyd. Lets be completely honest here if canelo couldn't knock out Matthew Hatton and I think Trout won the fight against him, how is Canelo possibly going to knock out possibly one of the best defensive fighters of all time and p4p #1?
Get a grip Oscar it's not happening, floyd is going to put on a clinic and win a UD. I don't doubt canelo will make it competitive but there's no way he's beating floyd, I just can't see it happening!!
Re: I can't wait for Oscar De la Hoya to eat his words!!!!
I can't stand Oscar and anyone else who feels Oscar somehow made a blueprint to beat Floyd.
Oscar got outclassed by a far superior fighter. To me, the fight wasn't close. People say "ohhh Oscar was doing great in the first bit while he was jabbing, then stopped jabbing, if he kept jabbing he would have won." BULL SHIT. Floyd's greatest asset is his ability to adapt and make adjustments to what an opponent is doing. De La Hoya had the jab taken away from him, he didn't willingly stop using it.
One of the biggest myths in boxing is that Oscar gave Floyd his toughest fight and almost beat him. No he didn't, he ALMOST got a gift because people go nuts when he threw his useless "shoe shine" combos that didn't land. Oscar couldn't do shit to Floyd.
Re: I can't wait for Oscar De la Hoya to eat his words!!!!
Oscar came quite close didn't he tho
I remember that fight and thinking how small Floyd looked, hes grown since hasn't he?
I also thought trout was unlucky against canelo
and I think Matthew Hatton has a very good chin, you never know it might even be better than floyds
Re: I can't wait for Oscar De la Hoya to eat his words!!!!
JLC came close (and arguably should have got the decision). Oscar didn't do anything.
Re: I can't wait for Oscar De la Hoya to eat his words!!!!
Oscar is the promoter. I'm pretty sure he'd say anything if it means making more money.
Regardless of whether or not the Oscar-Floyd fight was actually close, the fact is Floyd won a close split decision, so there is a chance Canelo can win the fight even if he doesn't win.
The blueprint is to con the judges.

Oscar spouts as much BS as anyone in boxing, including Arum. Oscar is just trying to sell a fight that most people don't believe will be too competitive and will end the same way all of Floyd's fights end, Floyd by decision. The only way I see the fight going differently is if Canelo is stopped on cuts or is too winded the second half of the fight.
With regard to his fight against Floyd, Oscar did something, but he didn't win the fight, and he didn't lay a blueprint to beat Floyd. If his blueprint is just "jab," he's going to be eating a big piece of humble pie come September 14, 2013.
Re: I can't wait for Oscar De la Hoya to eat his words!!!!
does everyone really think that alverez has no chance?
yes the most likely scenario is Floyd by UD but I reckon this is as tough a test as hes had for a while
Re: I can't wait for Oscar De la Hoya to eat his words!!!!
To counter argue a little. I remember there was a bit of a debate on here after the fight on just how accurate, or inaccurate Floyd's own punching was.
Firstly - if I remember correctly, Floyd's accuracy (in terms of raw percentage, black and white numbers) was a little off, lower than usual.
A few or more of us here argued that Floyd was hitting gloves a fair bit, I think particularly early-on, owing to Oscars guard/ defence. He didn't move his head much (which Floyd has actually gone on record to say he was in disbelief of during the fight) but his hands were solid.
This lead me to believe that Winky would definitely beat him if they ever fought but then he quickly fell off so that idea was a long lost archive. However, I did think at the time that there was a bit of a blue print there.)
But I'd be interested to know if Floyd's accuracy in that fight has remained the lowest it has been since his fight with Dela Hoya. It would be interesting because Canelo likes to do a bit of hands-high-walk-you-down.
Re: I can't wait for Oscar De la Hoya to eat his words!!!!
Oscar is the phoniest twit I've ever heard, everything he says is dogshit and cringeworthy. Having said that, he did put up a good effort against Floyd and was in the fight until about the halfway point. I think a lot of that had to do with him having an equalizer in his left hook, Floyd was probably wary of forcing openings while Oscar was still fresh. Once he had timed the jab Floyd landed with a lot more authority, and all of Oscars offence boiled down to little flurries in close since he couldn't dictate range anymore, half the time he would finally get inside just to hold and flurry with one arm tiring himself out.
If there is any blueprint there, it's one for Floyd to use. I'm not sure Alvarez is as good as DLH still was at that point, and he doesn't have the big punch or experience to keep Floyd honest.
Re: I can't wait for Oscar De la Hoya to eat his words!!!!
Oscars just hyping the fight. If he believed what he said, he could have rematched floyd. (not like people wouldn't pay for it) Its easy to talk smack from behind a desk when someones doing the fighting for you. Oscar just has to eat crow; Canelo is the one that has to eat the leather.
Even if Floyd blanks Canelo and shuts him out. Oscar still stands to make money. Canelo will still sell in Mexico and maybe the U.S. because he will have lost to the top guy in boxing. Golden boy would still co promote with Mayweather and get a piece of change off every one of his fights. He's doing the smart thing by hyping the fight because no matter who wins and loses, his bottom line doesn't change much.
Re: I can't wait for Oscar De la Hoya to eat his words!!!!
No doubt, would just be nice if was a good talker in some fashion. Any idea what kind of deal/options Golden Boy have with Mayweather anyways? I've wondered this, what's in it for both to say they "co promote" everything, obviously Floyd doesn't have the same kind of pull there.
Re: I can't wait for Oscar De la Hoya to eat his words!!!!
Maybe the 'blueprint' was that Floyd gave Oscar the jab to get him to come to Floyd and throw other punches that are easier to counter off of.
Re: I can't wait for Oscar De la Hoya to eat his words!!!!
Oscar has been eating his words since he lost to Floyd in 07 starting with Hatton. I imagine he is stuffed and will vomit come Sept 14th.
Re: I can't wait for Oscar De la Hoya to eat his words!!!!
Oscar is a promptor and he said the same crap with Guerrero and we all know what happened.
I thought Oscar won the fight against Floyd but Canelo does not have the height and reach that Oscar did he only has youth, hunger and weight. I hope he can pull it off.
