Boxer you liked but didn't made it!

Bo hogberg was one of the boxer which i really like, which i don't think got the real shot at boxing.

Bo Hogberg learned to box while growing up in a working-class neighborhood in Gothenburg, Sweden. Winning his first national amateur championship at the age of eighteen, while compiling an amateur record of 60-12 (45 KO's). During his professional career, Hogberg, would hold the European Light Middleweight Title, and compile a career record 36-6-1 (24 KOs). Hogberg was a controversial figure outside of the ring, known for his flamboyant lifestyle, which included fast cars, liquor, and women. His career would end, temporarilly, in 1967, after a prison sentence. He would return in 1970, and lose all three of his comeback fights. His unsavory reputation, may have played apart in politicians decision to ban professional boxing in Sweden in 1970. Hogberg died of cancer, after having suffered a stroke, a few years before.

Another one i liked was Ingemar Johansson, He had a few good fights with Floyd Patterson, Eddie Machen, Joe Erskine, Joe Bygraves, Dick Richardson and Henry cooper.

Ji hoon Kim- Ji is a family friend so I got to know this dude in the mid 2000s and became a part of his team.. Ji is one of the downest guys I know on the streets .. he used to be the top streetfighter in high school but deep inside, I feared that he would take a lot of beating in the pros.. he just didnt have the proper foundation as a boxer and his trainer sucked. U know what though, for a time being, he was a straight up wrecking machine and dude made me proud.. if I were to get into a rumble on the streets against any number of foes, I just need Ji by my side and we would fuck up any group.. no doubt about that.

Marvin Quintero- to those of u who dont know, Quintero is a LW from Tijuana and one of the most, offensively skilled fighters out there.. when he was coming up as a prospect, he showed glimpse of a young marco antonio barrera and I thought he woukd go places.. but just like some fighters, bad luck never seems to escape him... sort of like Eric Hunter... he has all the physical tools and due is exciting as fuck but for some odd reason, he loses to oppoe0nents he shouldnt be losing to... or he might lead on the cards then all of a sudden, he suffers a freak accident.. he has very bad luck but just take a look at his fights from few years ago and youll see what he's about..

JI hoon and quintero are still young though and they still have a chance...

Kendall Holt- kendall is a former champion whose been there and done that so he probably doesnt belong in this discussion but with his talents, he could have accomplished a lot more.. ive always liked holt..

Saigon Skipper Kelp.

Welterweight contender in the early to mid-90s.
Great tv fighter, exciting KO puncher.
He's a coach nowadays. Vietnamese.

Sebastian Lujan - he is still active and only 34. He is one of my all time favourites to watch.

He came close a few times but never managed the world title.

Exciting fighter to watch, never takes a backwards step and throws a lot of punches. He has a solid defence also, so much head movement it's unreal.


Has stopped prospects in the past and really deserves to be a bit more known.

Unfortunately he'll likely always be remembered for his world title fight with Antonio Margarito when about a quarter of his ear was tore from his head.

Which is ashame for a fighter deserving of so much more.

I was a fan of the following -

Harold "The Shadow " Knight.- lost to Rocky Lockridge.
Engels Pedroza.- ko king who wasn't quite world class.
Tony "SIBBO" Sibson.- lost to Marvin Hagler and Frank Tate.

For me, it's Eric Crumble.
He tore his way to 31 fights, 31 KOs, all in first 2 rounds.
Unfortunately though he lost them all.

Eric Crumble - Boxer

Vernon Paris. I was really high on him since he debuted in 2006. He was only 19 or 20 but had skills well beyond his age. He was long and could box at range, but he was also equally effective on the inside and could counter off a slick shoulder roll James Toney style. He also had a great backstory that involved him surviving an assassination attempt where he was shot and rolled up into a carpet to be disposed of, but woke up and managed to escape while his would-be assassins were checking to see if the coast was clear.

Unfortunately he never seemed to develop and had a lot of problems outside the ring, and his career just kinda drifted off into limbo. He got a big opportunity finally vs Zab and came up short.

I really thought he was gonna be a champ.

I had a boxer named Bruno when I was 12. He got hit by a garbage truck. I liked him a lot. He didn't make it.

Funnily enough, Courtney Burton (until I saw his fight against Augustus).

Ian Napa. Very skilled fighter but he couldn't punch for shit. He had 1 career stoppage and that was because Haskins dislocated his shoulder and had to retire on his stool. Despite his lack of power, he had great defense and managed to win a British & European title. Didn't get the credit he deserved IMO.

I remember a few years ago probably 5-6 years ago i saw this Argentina guy on television, he was quite young but he was incredible fast but i cannot remember his name! Do anybody know who i thinking off?

Herol Graham and Oba Carr also Yori Boy Campus. they all had different styles and thought they were special and world class.

Cecilio Espino was one of the first guys I saw pushed out of the La Forum and loved his style. But once he was beat by a 50-50 guy and Camputatro broke a record landing shots on him in a ESPN war, things were clear ;D

Charles Brewer. Well he did 'make' it I guess but THIS dude was fun tv. The literal live by the sword or die by the sword
