Some PLEASE explain the Seth Mitchell experiment?
Who was responsible for that? That poor, poor guy... he CLEARLY was NOT a fighter. He learned how to throw a punch, average at that. He was an average boxer, albeit he learned by just being in the gym and working hard and had a great work ethic.
But, his chin and stamina, particularly when he got hit, was something that was always in the air about Mitchell.
Who in the world was responsible for that? The sanctioning org's? Dodgy promoters? Fight fans? Who?!?!?!
Re: Some PLEASE explain the Seth Mitchell experiment?
It is not the first time it has been tried and it will not be the last time either.
How did Vaughan Bean ever get a title shot against Holyfield or Akinwande get a title?
It happens.

IHY... but Bean wasn't as hyped or as weak kneed or chinned. Mitchell clearly was. Bean also was a much better boxer... but Bean clearly was handed a shot he shouldn't have had.

Michael Moorer never beat a top 10 heavyweight until he faced a heart attack waiting to happen Holyfield.
Re: Some PLEASE explain the Seth Mitchell experiment?
Whats the problem? He is better then hundreds of other pro boxers so why not him?

But Moorer was a dominant LH Champion... and unbeatable at LH. When Moorer was pouring it on at 175, it wasn't a matter of if he would turn the HW, but when?

People work jobs that they are shitty at all the time. We are surrounded by mediocrity everyday.
He wanted to make money and he made money. He wanted to be a boxer and he is a boxer.
Based on the majority of your posts @ykdadamaja I bet you suck at what you do too.

But I admit that. I admit, quite readily, that I know jack-spit about my work... I honestly and truly know very little. A finance guy in a tech job. Go figure?!?!
Seth Mitchell, and his trainers/handlers, on the other hand, made us want to believe he was the second coming of Mike Tyson. He was not even the second coming of Bert Cooper- all due respect to Bert Cooper.

Re: Some PLEASE explain the Seth Mitchell experiment?
I found Mitchell suspect from the go. I was never impressed with him but a lot of people here spoke highly of him so I figured I might be missing something. I did feel bad when things fell apart for him as he seemed like a genuinely nice guy in interviews. God, his lack of chin was bad, I wonder if he is still recovering.
Re: Some PLEASE explain the Seth Mitchell experiment?
Seth was no different to Michael Grant. It happens.

Re: Some PLEASE explain the Seth Mitchell experiment?
Americans love their chaotic free swinging heavyweights, well hbo seems to anyway ;D Mitchell maximized what he had but it was clear he was going to burn fast but bright while he lasted. Much more a Cliff Etienne or Derrick Jefferson than even a Grant. Once he was out on his feet and lucky to escape the 1st round with Witherspoon the clock had already been ticking.

Moorer never really got his breakout at lt hvy. As long as they were determined to hang on to then laughable wbo trinket he wasn't getting close to another body or champ.

That was true Moorer did not fight the best light heavies.
