Bring on GBP vs TR fights ...
Yep, Oscar needed to get back his company. Schaefer may have been CEO, but Oscar founded it and is the majority shareholder. The cold war between Golden Boy and Top Rank is over.
I doubt this will work out in a way that should be celebrated. Oscar is dumb as a box of rocks. Arum will play him. We can hope for the best but I doubt this is good for anyone but Arum.
If this indeed leads to big fights between the two promotions then great!
Nothing against Schaefer but if he was the last obstacle or greatest obstacle then good riddance.
Feb 26-2014 from Oscar
May 4-2014 from Floyd MyweatherQuote:
"All the animosity, all the bad words that have been going back and forth, there's no need for it. Boxing is a sport that I dearly love and we're both adults. Bob Arum did a lot for my career and I greatly appreciate it. I can honestly say that I love the guy because he's someone who did a lot for my career and really catapulted my career and did a tremendous job in promoting my career. He's a master at what he does. ... I will meet with Bob Arum one day, and I will sit down with him, and I do hope things get worked out and patched up, because that's what the fans need. The boxing fans want to see all these great fights happen."
Oscar is starting to look the odd man out because with Floyd's comments it would seem there is a 3-way split instead of a 2 and with Floyd goes all of Haymons fighters,Quote:
"Richard always has a home over here. We would love to work with him hand in hand if he has any problems over there because we know it's a company Richard Schaefer built. We working hand in hand already. We would love to work with Richard. He's a great guy, a great father. Richard knows the door is always open. Richard Schaefer knows he's family."

That leaves Oscar with Hopkins, Mares, Alvarez and a hand full of gate keepers and prospects. He may find himself crawling back to Hbo and taking a back seat. We may get a few fights out of this which is good but I think the wall of ice between Floyd ergo Haymon/ Arum will continue.
Cant explain the May 4th date??? for that quote. Found the article.
Floyd Mayweather says Richard Schaefer has a home at Mayweather Promotions, if needed - Bad Left Hook
From Floyds side the quote makes some sense, this has been in the works for a while. And of course they would want Schaeffer. But who knows what Richards settlement was. He was inked through 2018 so he didn't go cheap.
What confuses me is why on earth the board would okay this. Unless they had some sort of reassurance from Haymon before letting Schaeffer go it's a huge gamble that could set the company back many years.
Little wonder why Oscar was making such a push to purchase the Clippers with this clearly brewing for some time. I can't see him coping without major partners. Lets face it, as far as 'product' at least on a monthly basis they put out mere heavily stacked showcases for favorites. Anything that forces the Chefs in the kitchen to effort the same meal should be encouraged.
Floyd just bolted from Golden Boy. I had just posted on another forum that I thought Floyd was poised to become a major player and promoter after he retires in a similar thread to this and found a new report via ESPN notification.
Floyd Mayweather vows to stop working with Golden Boy Promotions after CEO Richard Schaefer resigns - ESPN
Golden Boy just needs a new CEO, Oscar will find another one. He did with Schaefer. And I seriously doubt Mayweather will become a force in promotions. He just doesnt have the personality or smarts. If he was really all about that money, he wouldn't be making enemies left and right in the business world. Even though someone here said OScar is stupid, he's worth hundreds of millions and is the founder of this company.
Oscar made money off fame and looks. He's a figurehead, he did not build that company. Maybe he can hire someone else to run the company well that Schaeffer built. Maybe he can't. We'll see but as is this company just lost millions upon millions upon millions of dollars. Between the buyout and the near certainty they lose the Haymon fighters this company could be in real trouble. Oscars name isn't what it was when he started it. Fighters see Haymon as the guy that gets you paid and Oscar as the cross dressing lush.
And it's not just Schaeffer leaving. The chief marketer is leaving and others as well. Fishnets won't stop the flood.
Sure whatever man. Oscar didn't make his money off his fame and looks. I'll tell you what, Oscar even in retirement is a massive success. Floyd once he's done fighting, more than likely will go broke and won't even become as successful as Oscar or even the other guy who he accuses of using PEDs, Pacquiao.
Is there a point in there because I don't see it? Tell me what Oscar did business wise for the company? Tell me how you know Floyd will go broke when you say Oscars money makes him a success and Floyd has more money than him? Tell me anything, I'll listen if you make a point. I'm even the rare guy on the internet who will admit when I'm wrong.
Well was there a point when you mentioned that Oscar only had success just only on the basis of looks and fame? Because Oscar would not have success if that was the case. Then you brought up about fishnets. WTF was that? What does have to do with anything? Yes, you don't like Oscar, Pacquiao, heck just checking your post history, you don't like non-black fighters. We get that.
