Watching old Herbie Hide fights...
What about you on a lazy Saturday??
Re: Watching old Herbie Hide fights...
Herbie was a good fighter but had a dodgy chin. He also was small for today's super heavyweights but I thought he was the new British Ali.

Herbie was good while he lasted. Loved the way he always looked straight at his opponent- not eye blinking or blind punches with him. When he hit you, he knew he was hitting you- where and how hard. Cold blooded killer.
Re: Watching old Herbie Hide fights...
he had a chance to face Enzo last minute and passed... that was his last chance to something credible... kind of faded after that

Has he retired? he went to Germany and down to cruiser weight.
Re: Watching old Herbie Hide fights...
i think i heard something about him getting in trouble with the law for drugs charges
Re: Watching old Herbie Hide fights...
I thought he was a proper tool
I remember being in a pub and everyone laughing when Klitschko floored him with his jab and when Herbie looked up his eyes were in orbit.
Also remember Riddick Bowe in post fight interview "I knew I'd won when I hit him for first time and he sounded like a girl"
made a few million though so fair play to him in that respect

Bowe also said that Hide hit him the hardest out of all his opponents. Not bad for someone who struggled to weigh over the old cruiser limit!
Re: Watching old Herbie Hide fights...
Amazing, just googled that. Never knew that.
Riddick's quote below when asked who was hardest puncher he'd faced.
"You're not going to believe this but I would have to say Herbie Hide .... He hit me and I thought Oh sh#t I can't allow this guy to hit me again because I don't know what I'll see next."
Re: Watching old Herbie Hide fights...
Yep, he was proper ferocious! Put everything in to his shots and had real confidence in his power to do damage. If he had a decent chin he could have made a mug of a whole generation of heavies.
