Front foot planted or front heel elevated?
Here is a clip a Bruce Lee-powerful 1 inch punch if you notice in the video Bruce advocates that you plant the lead foot this goes against scraps biomechanics.so which is right is it better to have the lead foot planted like a tree with roots in the ground or not?
Re: Front foot planted or front heel elevated?
Wheres the clip?
Bruces punch was a trick of sorts he used to stand his dummy in an off balanced neutral stance too. Its a movement of total weight available taken from a different technique.
Getting a percussive blast on the end takes some ripe timing otherwise its a push at best.
Its not for fighting at distance you are too off balance and over committed. It could be used to blow someone off of you though in MMA, specailly when like in the technique it came from where you push the opponents arms one way then revolve the opposite and bang up the opening they leave by their reaction: You revolve both arms around the opponents arms for freedom then move in and blast them head and liver in one strike with two palms one up one down blasting them away like an uppercut and lower cut with a step in or a raised back heel, can sit on it too in some circumstances.
Re: Front foot planted or front heel elevated?
Here's the clip notice the back leg in particular but most importantly the body going forward. Of interest is the following... Exhibit A. The rear leg isn't aligned the coccyx. Exhibit B. Elbow and knee connection classic Joe Frazier a hook could've easily been thrown.
Enter in exhibit C. The rear heel is aligned with lead heel rotating the right shoulder forward then the hip rotates finally adding the power of the foot. Isn't this Joe Frazier? So scrap has determined that power comes from the back which is correct. But where is the balance is it on the front leg or the back leg?https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=pC6vRJsBZEg

As ive said before, back leg is your distance, thats where you generate force. Front leg is direction, if the heel is on the floor you cant direct, plus a lot of power is going down through the heel, not the fist.

Are you talking about a snap or push? Are you suggesting that he wouldn't have had the efficacy had his heel been flat?
Your heel is your bio mechanical brake.

Does this apply to other punches like the uppercut? Elevate the lead heel before throwing the uppercut? This goes against everything that I've been taught.

Go for a walk, and study whats happening with your balance, then walk baclwards.
