He needs to retire.
It matters to them because Floyd has built his own aura of invincibility (which he should not be indicted for, imo. Boxers should be cocky).
The clichéd "Blue collared, making ends meet" fans like for athletes people to be humbled.
We want our superstar champions to be flashy and confident.
I care more about him being a convicted domestic abuser :p.
His boxing skills are undeniable and one loss wouldn't change that. However, his entire persona has been built around being undefeated, so his marketability among casual fans would likely plummet.
