It matters to them because Floyd has built his own aura of invincibility (which he should not be indicted for, imo. Boxers should be cocky).

I care more about him being a convicted domestic abuser.
His boxing skills are undeniable and one loss wouldn't change that. However, his entire persona has been built around being undefeated, so his marketability among casual fans would likely plummet.

I don't think a loss would really tarnish his legacy all that much among serious fans, except that it would validate the accusations of cherry-picking.
