Top 20 Fighters Since 1980
**Any action prior to 1980 is null and void (e.g. Duran, Arguello, Larry Holmes), but can still be rated for success from that year on..
Best I could come up with. I know I am leaving some folks out. In order:
1. Sugar Ray Leonard
2. Julio Cezar Chavez
3. Roy Jones, Jr - An awesome fighter. I don't care about his loss of reflexes lack of fundamentals to fall back on as he aged. He is an ATG.
4. Marvin Hagler
5. Lennox Lewis
6. Floyd Mayweather
7. Evander Holyfield
8. Bernard Hopkins
9. Sweet Pea
10. Thomas Hearns
11. Oscar De La Hoya
121. Marco Antonio Barrera
13. Joe Calzaghe
14. Mike Tyson
15. Roberto Duran
16. Erik Morales
17. Winky Wright
18. George Foreman
19. Shane Mosley
20. Manny Pacquiao
Felix Trinidad (bumped off)
I had a hard time coming up with any lighter guys worth mentioning for this particular era.
EDIT: I TOTALLY forgot Pernell Whitaker. I squeezed him in at 9 and knocked Tito off...
Re: Top 20 Fighters Since 1980
the only guy i would for sure kick off of your list would be winky. JMM should be on there in his place. i feel like JMM is a guy that has been underrated throughout his whole career but in years to come, he will be considered equal to other mexican legends.

One of those guys stepped up and beat all of his best peers.
The other guy got outboxed, knocked senseless and quit against his best peers.
SRL > Duran
Re: Top 20 Fighters Since 1980

If you don't have the discipline to consistently stay in shape and keep your weight down at a point where you are most effective, that's a reflection of you as a fighter. When assessing a fighter, you have to take into account the entire package. I never seen Leonard, Hearns or Duran come in out of shape, or quit during a world title match because of tummy aches.

Exactly cause then you'd have to throw in Manny's constant need for an excuse (no matter how ridiculous, be it socks, gloves, shoulder, leg cramps, lucky punches, etc.) after every close fight or loss into account also
