If you don't have the discipline to consistently stay in shape and keep your weight down at a point where you are most effective, that's a reflection of you as a fighter. When assessing a fighter, you have to take into account the entire package. I never seen Leonard, Hearns or Duran come in out of shape, or quit during a world title match because of tummy aches.

Exactly cause then you'd have to throw in Manny's constant need for an excuse (no matter how ridiculous, be it socks, gloves, shoulder, leg cramps, lucky punches, etc.) after every close fight or loss into account also
