Not going to name the worst but will say that Manny n Jermain Taylor was the best example I've seen so far, with Hatton/Floyd sr. a close second.
What about Chris Algieri and his goddamn trainer. What chance do you have when you're a feather fisted runner and your trainer sends you in there with the game plan that you're going to get your ass kicked for 9 or 10 rounds and then pull off a dramatic one-punch KO against one of the greatest fighters of the last 30 years.
How about Alton Merkerson/Roy Jones? I guess it can be argued that Big Roy laid the ground work, but Alton joined Roy in '92 and won titles with him everywhere from middleweight to heavyweight.
Honestly, I don't think Alton did much more than hold the mitts, the heavy bag and give positive reinforcement to Roy. Guy was so gifted n unorthodox that he broke every rule and made it work for him. You can't really train that in my opinion. I'm pretty sure anyone smart enough to just let Roy do his thing would've been equally "successful"...Quote:

In many cases the trainer that you see in the ring with the fighter is not the guy that does the day to day gym work- the actual training of that fighter.

Gil Clancy and Emile Griffith. Clancy trained from his very first day boxing. Al Certo did real well with Buddy McGirt.
Mosley and his Pop worst for me. Also Norm Stoney stone acting a certifiable lunatic with Ruiz more often than not. Certainly not top anything all time but John d Jackson and Kovalev. Dude has his poise. Jackson in general looks a hell of a trainer.
