Mothers and boxing. What about yours?
greynotsoold said his mother was into boxing and a Bobby Chacon fan. My mother had no interest in boxing.
How about the rest of you? Was anyone else lucky enough to have a mother who appreciated boxing?
I thought it was pretty cool and would like to know.
Re: Mothers and boxing. What about yours?
My mom has absolutely zero interest in boxing, she does however have more of a hatred towards football.
She passed comment on the Kevin Mitchell fight (the one where he got bost up pretty bad) when my dad was watching it on catch up, she said something along the lines of 'this is barbaric, it shouldn't be allowed' then she went back to her pottering around and looking really busy when she was in fact doing absolutely nothing.
Re: Mothers and boxing. What about yours?
She won't even watch it. It's way too violent for her
Re: Mothers and boxing. What about yours?
For some odd reason the first thing I thought of was Vinny Paz and a short I saw on his mothers per fight ritual years ago.
The only time my mother ever took notice of an actual live fight was during Holyfield v Cooper. I was boasting and talking to the tv in my bedroom about Holyfield destroying the guy, and then the shock KD happened and she walked by the open door and said "whooaah Ran was that supposed to happen". I was standing there silent with my foot in mouth ;D. The only other relation to boxing was when I asked her to copy and alphabetise my trade list in 92'. She came home from work with these well put together and lamented note books. Was pretty cool
Re: Mothers and boxing. What about yours?
My mum is not in to sport of any kind. But loves violence and honestly, I don't think boxing is violent enough for my mum.
Re: Mothers and boxing. What about yours?
My mum used to watch some of the big fights, mainly involving British fighters, back in the day but she doesn't watch it anymore.
She would never let me box as a kid though. I begged her for years but she was having none of it. I had to wait until I was 18 when I left home before I was able to join a club. Even then, after all the years begging to give it a go, I didn't stick with it for long as I was more interested in going out and enjoying myself than being punched in the face. What a fool I was!;D

I wish I someone to blame instead of a thing, my nose just couldn't take the smell of the locker room or getting hit. "Big Boy" was always a little too sensitive. Lol

You and me both it seems. ;D
Re: Mothers and boxing. What about yours?
My mum recognises Mike Tyson, as I was a fan of his and she called him my brother. Other than that she does not recognise any of them.
