Adonis Stevenson is Stripped of Ring Belt for Not Facing a Top Challenge in 2 Years
Did anyone else see this? I agree 100% with the call. You can't be considered the top guy if you aren't facing anyone.

Remember that brief time when The Ring belt was essentially the only one fans took seriously and respected? Wasn't he flaunting it at least once pre and post fight within the few fights???

It's nice to have some "belt" that seems to be the most legit but in this case kovalev should have gotten it long ago.

Ha Adonis Stevenson, I'd completely forgotten that fella existed
Re: Adonis Stevenson is Stripped of Ring Belt for Not Facing a Top Challenge in 2 Yea
me too. how he lucked out with that one punch KO a few years back---he prolly knows it was luck and is sitting on his prize.

Stevenson is content to knockout poor fighters in Canada, he is the new Bute.
Re: Adonis Stevenson is Stripped of Ring Belt for Not Facing a Top Challenge in 2 Yea
These fighters today aren't so much scared. They're just lazy.
Pitiful Adonis, just pitiful.

Easy to understand:
Adonis is at the end of his career. GYM, his promoter, did try to cash as much as possible before his last showdown. THey did with success. He'll fight Kovalev as his very last fight (likely) next year, likely to lose (though he has the power to knock down the Krusher, we never know). It's all about managing the last year of his career wisely before the final bout and I agree that it's a tad sad, though understandable, that it works this way.

I agree and disagree. He's at the end of his career, but there are still fights to be made at or around his weight class. He could have faced Pascal in a big Canadian fight. There's Beterbeiv. Even the DeGale/Bute winner. Yet, he hasn't faced anyone.

ODLH still tainting the rankings? Ring belt has lost credibility...you don't hear much concern about who holds it lately.

Beterbiev is too dangerous for him, GYM is kind of "upset" at Pascal and I think that they want to keep this ultimate match for after the Kovalev fight as even if Pascal loses a second time against the Krusher and that STevenson loses to him too, that would draw a huge gate over here and that would be kind of the "last" good pay that either of them could get. Ultimate last for Kovalev and one in a long time for Pascal.

It looks like the Kovalev train already left the station because Kovalev is scheduled to face Pascal in the beginning of 2016 and then Ward at the end of 2016. I somewhat doubt they would risk a fight with Stevenson prior to the Ward fight.

I knew for Pascal but last time I did check, KAthy Duva was saying that they have an agreement with GYM to fight Stevenson by the end of the year... didn't know about the Ward thing. Where did you read that? That would change a lot of things.
