You have got to love Julian Jackson just pure raw power and speed.
Those KO's where he's raising his hand in victory even before the opponent hits the canvas are just COLD, man.
I was a big Julian Jackson fan back then. He had scary power, good box, and had a strong mentality/ton of heart (in my opinion). Julian's biggest weaknesses to me was his chin and lack of size at 160. As scary as he was, he a full level below G-Man, Roy, Toney, McAllum...etc. Still, he brought a ton of excitement and I would've loved to have seen him against Toney during their primes.
After writing that last post and thinking about it, how great of a match up would Jackson vs Tito Trinidad have been at 154???? I think it would've been a fascinating contest of two murderous punchers who were similarly built/sized.
Julian just couldn't take a middleweight punch. lolol.... but he sure could have delivered a heavyweight punch.
Has there ever been a fighter in history - at the top level - to render so many fighters unconscious on their feet? When that funker got you flush it was just a matter of gravity. I will always regard him as the sickest puncher ever.
I became a fan of his after he knocked out Herol Graham. His power is just sickening. Prime Norris got knocked out standing, he wobbled the great McCallum and he rendered his opponents unconscious with either hand.
A fight with Nigel Benn would have been legendary, you can only guarantee one thing and that would be a knock out.
As mentioned he staggered prime McCallum! He was around when I first got interested in boxing outside of domestic and heavyweights. I did appreciate him, but with hindsight not enough; his power was not normal in any way.
Jackson was very short sighted and damaged his retina but his accuracy was unreal.
