The fights that never were
Not just classics. You can include personal grudges that never got sorted out in the ring Hatton / Witter and local/national fights that would have answered some ranking issues etc Barker / Macklin etc.
But first a few potential classics in which they never got as far as wrapping hands
Leonard/Pryor
Cotto/Hatton
Duran/Arguello
Morals/Marquez
Frazier/Norton
Eubank/Toney
There are so many more and many are worthy of a thread each. So you can pick a match up and discuss it or add you own. New posters or veterans, don't be afraid to suggest match ups that you think might have been one sided or not practical for other reasons, that you as a fan would have enjoyed none the less.

Re: The fights that never were
Beanz v Miles.
Lewis v Bowe.
Hearns v McCallum.
Jackson v Benn.
Re: The fights that never were
Would have been good to see Naz at Super Bantam against Acero Sanchez, Zaragoza, Antonio Cermeno, Barrera. Barrera might just have been too much at any time but the others Naz would have wiped the floor with. Titles at Super Bantam were there for the taking and might have stopped Naz creeping onto my unfulfilled potential list.
Re: The fights that never were
Nigel Benn v Roy Jones was a massive fight that should have happened.
Froch v Calzaghe would have been another top fight too.
Re: The fights that never were
Herol Graham v Benn/Watson/Eubank
Rod Douglas v Nigel Benn - bitter amateur rivals
Roy Jones v Dariusz Michalczewski for undisputed light heavyweight title
Bowe v Mercer
Tyson v Morrison
Hagler v Donald Curry
Barry McGuigan v Asumah Nelson

Re: The fights that never were

There are always some fights people want to see.
Barker v Murray v Macklin would have been good to see.
Re: The fights that never were
not in the same league as the fights mentioned but does anyone remember (in the pre AJ days) when the biggest domestic HW fight that we had to look forward to was Fury v Price?
didn't Fury once say that Bellew and Price were gay lovers, it was at the time that Price was hitting people like a train and Fury was uppercutting himself.
Found it

Interviewer - Calm down Tyson you live on Channel 5....go on then one more
Fury then goes on to call Bellew and Price gay lovers ;D;D
Re: The fights that never were
Benn Eubank III only one to add here
Re: The fights that never were
Fans today think it's a modern thing that fighters swerve each other over rival promotional outfits and TV networks and whatnot.
But who remembers back in the late 90s when Britain had about half-a-dozen fringe world-class light-middles - Williams, Alexander, Farnell, Roberts, Stone, Tak, etc - who were all on SKY yet with different promoters and mickey mouse titles, so all claimed to be no.1 but never fought (some fights eventually happened too late). Mental.
I can still remember a Ringside show where Farnell got the raving with Alexander because he rated him about 5th best when asked to rank them. Hilarious. Farnell started offering him out and stuff. :D
Re: The fights that never were
Toney vs Hopkins as mentioned earlier would've been awesome.
Toney vs Eubank and Benn had a lot of beef but never happened.

The best fight never to happen as far as I'm concerned.
