Am I the only one who still wants to see Wilder vs Joshua?
Wilder isn't completely done, IMO.
3rd fight vs Fury? No. Fury has already proven he's better than Wilder on any given day of the week.
But that bandwagon doesn't automatically include the sidelines-sitting Joshua, who can now crow about not needing Wilder from the safety of his couch.
In boxing, everyone knows that just because A>B, that don't mean that C can come prancing in claiming C>B also. That has to be proven in the ring.
I'd actually like Wilder's (at 100%) chances against Joshua.
Joshua ain't Fury. He doesn't have the ring smarts..... he doesn't have the same style..... he DEFINITELY doesn't have the same chin, nor the willingness to put it out there.
But..... boxing's all about posturing these days...... and Joshua can now claim he doesn't "need" Wilder which I guess in reality he doesn't. PHEW!!!!!!!

Right now Fury is probably Joshua's favorite person in the world. He got him off the hook from ever having to face Wilder.
Too bad.
Re: Am I the only one who still wants to see Wilder vs Joshua?
It would still be a pretty big fight, just not as big as this time yesterday.
I too don't believe Wilder is done, he's just not as good as Tyson Fury.
I'd make Joshua a favourite over him though, especially as he now seems to be able to box & has a plan B.
Wilder has a plan A & then there are no more letters in the alphabet as far as he's concerned.
Re: Am I the only one who still wants to see Wilder vs Joshua?
Yes because I still want to match up the best fighters whether they are #1 and #2 in the division or not. Wilder shouldn’t take a Joshua fight next though. Take a tune up first. If Wilder loses then it is what it is. He made a ton of money in his career and proved to not be able to hang with the top guys.
Despite what happened to Wilder though, it would still be considered a big win for Joshua. If Wilder won, it would get him back to the top.

LOL. No. Not even a Plan A 1/2.
I'd favor Wilder initially, unless Joshua decided to use Fury's tactic and press forward, forcing Wilder to play defense and fight off his back foot.
Only problem is I don't think Joshua would press forward and risk getting tagged. Fury proved (especially to himself) that he could take a punch from Wilder, something not very many heavyweights can do.
Joshua has proven no such thing yet.
It would be interesting nonetheless.
Re: Am I the only one who still wants to see Wilder vs Joshua?
No I do too but fury v Joshua has to happen.
A British unification fight ffs. We need it.
I half think Joshua should cancel the Pulev fight in case....

If you think fighting everyone he has including Wlad and then a rematch with Ruiz is evidence of Joshua not being willing to "put it out there" or evidence of him "posturing" then you obviously already have your mind made up.
It is nuts how already within 24hrs Wilder losing is now supposedly evidence of Joshua ducking him from his couch sofa, when we all know that is complete bullshit. Whatever way you look at it Joshua is a better boxer then Wilder but Wilder is probably going to trigger the rematch clause allowing him to avoid challenging AJ for the other belts and proving one way or another who is the better fighter.
I seem to recall you saying you were not even going to watch the AJ/Ruiz rematch because you had heard it was boring.
An all British showdown for all the belts and a chance to be the true lineal champ would dwarf the feeble American crowds and be a great spectacle that does not require Wilder.
Re: Am I the only one who still wants to see Wilder vs Joshua?
AJ did avoid Wilder and was more responble for the fight not happening.
The fight has gone now and I can not see them ever facing one another.
Re: Am I the only one who still wants to see Wilder vs Joshua?
We'll probably end up with an all British showdown to unify the title just like we wanted..... held in Saudi Arabia...
Re: Am I the only one who still wants to see Wilder vs Joshua?
Wilder is still a beast to reckon; he's definitely not done and I think that a fight with Joshua could be all fireworks. He has to start working more with his jab though, and I think he needs to focus on his mental a bit more; he did look pretty "I am done" after the third round and hasn't tried anything significative to turn the tables, if you ask me.

Ha! no he didn't.
Re: Am I the only one who still wants to see Wilder vs Joshua?
Fury/AJ is the fight now. If Wilder could get himself back together it would be good in the future. But, Wilder seems like the type that will jump right back in with Tyson and that might be the end of the best version of Wilder.
Re: Am I the only one who still wants to see Wilder vs Joshua?
I've dogged Wilder for years but really didn't like seeing him take that much punishment. He had zero plan or answers and think he needs to retool and ffs get away from that whorish hype of 'the most devastating right hand in modern boxing'. It was getting just silly. Take some time and explore what just basically happened back to back with Fury. That said I'd rather have Joshua and Wilder over Joshua v Pulev but seriously can't see Joshua clamoring for Wilder right away nor should he. Credit to Joshua he came back and revamped his approach and improved skill set, it's Wilders turn. AJ v Fury is the fight that must happen hands down.
Re: Am I the only one who still wants to see Wilder vs Joshua?
deontay has never been any good. he has power & has been matched safely. the tyson he fought in the rematch is the closest to a peak worldclass fighter he has fought & we saw what happened. i would like to see all these guys fight each other but aj bombs out deontay

Ahh... once again the voice of reason.
TBH, any of us claiming Joshua ducked Wilder OR Wilder ducked Joshua is merely speculating...... nothing more.
I merely stated (and will continue stating) that when Fury swooped in and took the fight Joshua hadn't been capable (or willing) of making..... it just didn't look good on Joshua.
Had Fury swooped in and fought AJ instead, Joshua fans would've redoubled their claims that it was Wilder ducking AJ all along.
Who gives a shit at this point who ducked who?
The fact remains that AJ doesn't "need" Wilder anymore, and will never have to find out if he could indeed beat Wilder like Fury did.
No fanboy-ism....... just facts.
