mayeather vs pacman
mayeather vs pacman how gd would it be to see both of them go at it there the 2 best fighters on the planet imo an ad go with a mayeather win probably on points and mayweather crowned best fighter of all time ;D what do u guys think
-
Re: mayeather vs pacman
well PBF is a bit bigger. Speed is about the same, power I'm not really sure because it only took Manny to dispose of Hatton in 2 rounds and 8 rounds for Oscar. PBF's defense is out of this world though:-\
This I'm pretty sure though PAC CAN and WILL hurt PBF if he hits him flush.
-
Re: mayeather vs pacman
Floyd takes him out for me. Pac has fought some ATG's but this is another breed of animal.
-
Floyd Mayweather Vs Manny Pacquiao
OK now mayweather announced his comback on the day of the hatton - pacquiao fight
who wins if this fight takes place.
this will be a different fight altogether but they are both matched in Speed and i would give Pac the edge on power whatever weight they meet at.
i for one think Mayweather should be no2 p4p now but did before he retired :-X
one things for sure, we as boxing fans have a massive superfight to look forward to....thats if Mayweather wins his next fight ;)
so who you got ?
-
Re: Floyd Mayweather Vs Manny Pacquiao
Manny in four, comming in off angles that Floyd cant turn to face in time that early on in a fight.
Jmm will give him a run and make him think twice about stalking him fast and getting countered. Could be a long chess match.
-
Re: Floyd Mayweather Vs Manny Pacquiao
It would be a good fight but I think Pacquiao would have a power advantage over Mayweather.
I'd love to see it..
-
Re: Floyd Mayweather Vs Manny Pacquiao
If Floyd isn't affected by the layoff, he should win.
I will be rooting for Pacquiao if it happens.
-
Re: Floyd Mayweather Vs Manny Pacquiao
I give props to Floyd for taking a comeback fight with JMM. This is a one tough dude, and similar to Floyd in terms of smartness in the ring.
I think Floyd should win by UD being the slightly bigger man and slightly better boxer, but I expect JMM to bust up Floyd like no other fighter has been able to do.
As for Floyd Pacquiao, I'll have to give the edge to Pac by UD.
-
Re: Floyd Mayweather Vs Manny Pacquiao
Tough fight to call, p4p Manny is no.1 IMO, but as against Hatton he'll be against a considerably bigger guy who'll do a ten times better job at avoiding his punches. Considering that Marquez was able to neutralise Pac's speed with timing I would think that Floyd would have success in the same area, however I'll be rooting for Pac.
-
Re: Floyd Mayweather Vs Manny Pacquiao
IF Mayweather will take the fight... It would make the most sense out of any fight in the last 5 to 10 years... That would be absolutely awesome...
-
Re: Floyd Mayweather Vs Manny Pacquiao
I would root for Pacquiao, but would bet on Floyd. Then again... I also rooted for Pac against DLH and Hatton, but would've bet against Pac. So what the hell do I know?
;D

Re: Floyd Mayweather Vs Manny Pacquiao
Hard fight to call but I'd go for Mayweather on points if it takes place at welterweight. Different story if it's at light welter, I think Manny might even stop him at light welter.
Mayweather needs to get past Marquez first - anyone know at what weight it's taking place?
-
Re: Floyd Mayweather Vs Manny Pacquiao
Mayweather on points if he brings his best defensive game along with his speed. He's going to want to not get hit.
The most exciting outcome I think would be Mayweather by TKO in 8-10. For him to both defend well and outpunch and overpower Manny would mean that it was one incredible fight.

If you asked the question 18 months ago I would have picked PNF but then again I a;so thought DLH was going to be way to big for manny:-\
Pacquiao is a whole new beast, the man is sooo fast, he has powwer in his hands, but the real factors are the new changes Roach has made,,,
Manny will not just sit in fron and wait to be countered, he comes in att sooo many angles, he does not stop punching, he turns his opponents around and around before they even know what is going on he is on them again....
Right now manny Pacquiao is a fighter to fear, there is no way to deny it....
I say Manny takes PBF out in 5, Floyds best weapons were/are speed and countering...
Manny nulifies those two

To be honest i don't really think this is a hard fight to call, yes he beat Ricky Hatton very impressively and deserves alot of respect. But Manny Pacquiao does do better against fighters that come towards him, and lets be honest Ricky Hatton had his chin up in the air and was asking to get KO'ed.
People are forgetting despite Manny Pacquiao's improvements he still had hell against JMM, and Floyd Mayweather Jr is bigger and a better counter puncher than JMM IMO. He also has a much better defense, Manny Pacquiao didn't look good against a shot MAB in there 2nd fight when MAB didn't come towards him and he boxed. And i thought MAB done well he just wasn't active enough.
If you actually look back at Manny Pacquiao's struggles you'll notice, he didn't look that great against Oscar Larios despite flooring him twice, he was badly stunned himself and was taken the full 12, and as i said he didn't look that impressive against a shot MAB in there 2nd fight, and he had the same trouble he had against JMM in 2004.
And i know he wasn't at his peak against Erik Morales in there 1st fight, but again Erik Morales boxed Manny Pacquiao making him come towards him. Which in turn is why Manny Pacquiao lost, history shows Manny Pacquiao doesn't fare too well against opponents who don't come towards him.
Where as fighters like ODLH, Ricky Hatton, David Diaz, all come straight forward against Manny Pacquiao. Which is why Manny Pacquiao beat these fighters with ease. My prediction hasn't changed anything JMM can do Floyd Mayweather Jr, can do better Floyd Mayweather Jr by UD but a stoppage win wouldn't suprise me either.
-
Re: Floyd Mayweather Vs Manny Pacquiao
I'd hope for Manny to win, but it's a kinda tough one to call for me cos Pacquiao looks totally unbeatable at the moment, but then I guess he fought a drained De La Hoya and Hatton didn't exactly make it difficult for him.
I think my brain would tell me to pick Floyd just cos of his defensive prowess. But Manny with his arsenal of varied punches and angles, and speed...and also the power he seems to have carried up, really possible for him too.
I'd want Manny to win, but I'd expect Floyd to win by UD.
-
Re: Floyd Mayweather Vs Manny Pacquiao
This would be one of the biggest superfights to take place in my lifetime now - up there with the four middleweight kings of the 80s bouts, Tyson v Holyfield and Bruno v Chuck Gardener
Has to happen if PBF wins in July and would confirm the p4p king of this era in my book.
I cannot wait already !
As for who wins its 50/50 but for sure we will finally get to see what PBF is made of in a real fight when he will not have it all his own way.
November ??

Re: Floyd Mayweather Vs Manny Pacquiao
Floyd all day. The only fighter has chance at beating Floyd is Paul Williams. Floyd would win landslide decision aganist Manny
-
Re: Floyd Mayweather Vs Manny Pacquiao
Cannot be shy about this, not now.
I hope Marquez and Pacquiao unite their bitter rivalry and beat this self absorbed Diva back into secluded retirement frankly.Mayweather is cherry picking Battle scarred Marquez and totally focused on lucrative Pacquiao fight.Mayweather stepped out of the arena and let the accolades and status pass him by,Now Pac has taken the mantle. If and until Mayweather beats JMM,he ain't p4p 1 or 2 in my book.
"Hes a good small man,but I'm a great big man" :looroll: ....... sums up how I feel as far as JMM fighting north of 135 edit-Marquez is also a great Floyd, make no mistake about it!
-
Re: Floyd Mayweather Vs Manny Pacquiao
funny cause about a year ago everyone didnt gave pac even a slight chance to win against pbf, even i didnt.
if pbf jmm goes a full 12 rounds then pac already has an advantage being the fresher and more rested fighter.
jmm is a really good fighter i even said that only jmm can defeat pac. but aint it a bit cowardly for pbf to take on jmm? pbf even said it that jmm is a good small guy but im a big headed great fighter, kinda like that.
if pbf shows up for the jmm fight without ring rust or as the same fighter as b4 then i will give pbf an advantage against pac.
speed is just about the same
power ill give this to pac
ring skills goes to pbf
lets see how long will it take for pacs speed and power to open up pbf's clamshell defence. :)

"Floyd Mayweather Jr for all his smarts in the ring he has even more outside the ring, He has made a brilliant career on performances in the ring and knowing who not to face when choosing his bouts outside the ring"

Manny is a much improved fighter since then and your comments about his performance against JMM not only lessen his wins but you also make it sound as if theese guys are run of the mill performers.
What are we to believe because he went the diatance w Oscar Larios that was 3 yrs ago and Larios was one of the best in the sport at the time,
So you will then play down DLH, Diaz and Hatton...
DLH was not at his best for certain but even so the hammering he took was beyond imaginable,
Diaz not the best in the world but no slouch, and again manhandled
Hatton had not even come close to losing at 140lbs prior to last night, last night he was not only dominated in 2 rds but he was made to look like a novice fighter...
This was a P4P ranked man!!!!

Re: Floyd Mayweather Vs Manny Pacquiao
This is the first time since the second Castillo fight that I think Floyd has a legitimate chance of losing. Manny's incredibly fast, awkward in a way, a southpaw and his power hasn't seemed to drop a bit, look at his legs they're tree trunks, that's probably why.
I would like to see Floyd vs JMM first before I make a pick but this is an even fight IMO. People who think Floyd dominates or wins easy are nutso IMO.
-
Re: Floyd Mayweather Vs Manny Pacquiao
The improvement in Manny's pure boxing ability since say the first Marquez fight is IMO pretty stunning. You rarely see that level of improvement. He's harder to hit and look at his right hand now, he's a two fisted puncher now.

First time in a while I'd agree with Merchant. His tone though told me that if his tounge was pressing his cheek any hardy it would be sticking out of his ear.
Hes purely calculating, his 'announcment' trying to over shadow.....a cynic might say ride the momentum in the spotlight :-X.....of the fight lastnight, jeezz. What a ho.You see the way he grabbed Marquez by the arms at the weigh in and positiond him like he was a child, rolling his eyes? Disrespectful azz.I think the years and weight are too much for JMM,but I have never wanted to be more wrong than in this upcoming fight.

Im not downplaying his wins at all i think your misunderstanding what im saying, im saying that fighters that come towards Manny Pacquiao plays into Manny Pacquiao's hands. Fighters who make Manny Pacquiao come towards them have better success JMM, MAB 2, ETC.
Oscar Larios was a good fighter but he was recently stopped in 3 against Israel Vasquez, and had too move up 2 weightclasses against Manny Pacquiao lets not forget that.
I think people are getting a bit too excited over this win, it was a good win and an exciting/brutal one. But that doesn't all of a sudden make him a Floyd Mayweather Jr beater.
I mean before the Ricky Hatton win not many people gave him a chance at Floyd Mayweather Jr, now because he beat a come forward fighter in Ricky Hatton he's suddenly gonna beat Floyd Mayweather Jr ?
Sorry but i don't see it he hasn't suddenly got any better than when he fought JMM in there rematch. He's the same fighter he was then than he is now.
And he still had fits against JMM's counter punching style, and i personally think he lost the fight. Now if he had that much trouble with JMM's counter punching style. What do you think Floyd Mayweather Jr will do ?
He's a better counter puncher than JMM, he's bigger. He has a much better defense and he is quicker. I really think people are going over the top here, and i don't see how beating Ricky Hatton changes his chances against Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Re: Floyd Mayweather Vs Manny Pacquiao
I have to go with PBF because of style. He's in Pernell Whitaker and Benny Leonard territory: defensive genius' who are almost impossible to look good against.
Its possible at age 32 PBF has slowed a bit, and that split second in reflex can transform a fighter from unbeatable to mortal, as RJJ discovered rather quickly.
But short of that, PBF is one of those rare defense-first fighters who remain complete enigma's in their prime: impossible puzzles to solve.
-
Re: Floyd Mayweather Vs Manny Pacquiao
Mayweather. Mayweather has very underrated power and a very good defense. And at 140 when I saw him against Gatti he seemed to have a lot of pop on his punches and hit very hard. But Mayweather at 140 is very fast, the fastest opponent Pacquiao has faced, maybe not as fast but then again Marquez wasn't as fast as Pacquiao and was still able to time him and counter him. Mayweather has a better defense and is arguably a better counter puncher then Marquez and I think he could give Pacquiao a lot of fits. He won't stand in front of Pacquiao and trade he will box him.
Mayweather also has a very good chin and has never been down. Which is even more trouble for Pacquiao if he catches him.
Floyd Mayweather UD if the fight takes place. Would be a good fight. But a lot of people would hammer Floyd for not "standing and fighting" with Pacquiao.
-
Re: Floyd Mayweather Vs Manny Pacquiao
I think with floyd's long arms and ring smarts..manny will be on the end of the jab all night... but if he sneaks a left through which im sure he will...then we could have a fight..but i think manny will get a lesson albeit he will be the most unruly student for floyd.

Definitely agree. PBF all day. PBF would not be the punching bag Pac is use to. Pac likes fighters who come straight line in. No angles, no slips, no dips, just walking in. Pac's angle punches work beautifully against these type of fighters. He would see nothing of that sort against PBF. PWill is the only fighter who I would favor over PBF.

Re: Floyd Mayweather Vs Manny Pacquiao
Mayweather easy.
Got too much for Manny.
Would love to see it.
Manny's last two fights have made him look superb and I'm not taking anything away from them.
But examining them a bit further - Hatton was absolute shit last night and a weight drained 35 year old............well, Floyd is much better than those two.
Repeat - I think we'd all love to see it.

You are right on. People refuse to attack the fact that Pac fights guys who come straight in. Those are the ones he looks special against. JMM gave him fits and I personally thought he won the second fight but either way Pac and JMM are neck and neck. Pac did well against Hatton and he deserves 1 p4p without argument now. But beating Hatton did nothing to compare a PBF fight. It may turn to be detrimental confidence. Pac will have to change his whole style in what he is training for. His angle punches are not going to be thrown at a target in front of him. I really think people should not be taking this much from the Hatton fight. It was the same ol Pac against the same ol Hatton.

Re: Floyd Mayweather Vs Manny Pacquiao
Manny Pac wins by early round stoppage at 144 catch weight. He throws accurate punches with blinding speed. PBF can be cute and slick all he wants, but he won't be able to do it in 12 rounds.
I see Roach studying some PBF tapes now.

Re: Floyd Mayweather Vs Manny Pacquiao
This fight had no effect on my confidence in Floyd beating PAC. Though stunning, remember Hatton did come in with chin in the air, hands way to low, no head movement, and charging to make a sum of forces. This does not mean the defensive genius of Floyd Mayweather will be able to be beaten. Good KO by PAC but it means nothing against Floyd.

Re: mayeather vs pacman
Roach is a great fight engineer. I'm sure he'll come up with another great fight plan for Pac.

Re: mayeather vs pacman
If this fight took place two years ago...i would not hesitate to pick Floyd. But right now...Pac has gained so much confidence and Floyd has been inactive for over a year. For all of Floyd's superb skills...i have always questioned his resume and the timing of many of his fights. If he where to take Pac on now...he would be fighting the CLEAR pound for pound champion at the peak of his powers...something he is never come close to doing. I still would pick Floyd simply because he is the most skilled and intelligent fighter in the business. And i am sure he would get himself into the absolute best shape of his life for a fight against a fighter who is now physically as good as anyone. But for me...it is no longer an easy pick that Floyd would win. Not so much because he doesn't have the skills to beat Pac...but more because Pac is now mentally and physically in a ZONE. I can't wait to see if it happens!
