Wlad to fight again in Novermber or December
Well who's going to be next for him? Who has the best shot?
I would like to see Wlad pressed and tested by a hungry fighter, the winner of Arreola-Stiverne would pose a legit threat due to punching power, but hell Wlad has the upper hand in everything, he's bigger, faster, stronger, and more powerful than any other heavyweight right now.
Part of me wants to see Wlad massacre Mariusz Wach
Who is there that is ready for a title shot? I would hat eSeth Mitchell to be the one to get slaughtered, but hell if he wants the fight bring it!

Re: Wlad to fight again in Novermber or December
This is meant to be constructive, Lyle. So please no chip on shoulder.
But one way for Wlad to maybe force the issue and increase his general public perception is to become much busier. Start going through the HW ranks like a hot knife through butter. Start knocking off the top contenders one by one. Leave no question as to how he would fare against "X" or "Y". As you know, I'm one of those who believe the division is total shit. Of course, it's not Wlad's fault. And it's not like Wlad has been extremely tested or taxed in any of his recent fights. Why not then become a little busier? Bulldoze through the division top contenders, before taking a well-deserved retirement. Leave no doubt as to the Povetkins, the Heleniuses, the Adameks. Wlad right now is not even averaging 2 fights a year. Judging by the lack of wear and tear on him.... he could surely fight at least 3 times a year. He's done it before.
My reasoning is: Wlad is nearing the end of his career, one that will likely end with him undefeated. Why not push the accelerator a little bit and remove all doubt as to his greatness? Because while there are obviously fans such as yourself... there's also those who still need that one little bit extra, since the division itself has not presented any challenges. Instead of rematching obviously overmatched bums like Thompson, Wlad should be concentrating on the remaining few that haven't had their turn yet.

Re: Wlad to fight again in Novermber or December
Some potential targets
Odlanier Solis: last fight May 29th, no future fights scheduled, should be ready to go by Nov/Dec. He doesn't deserve another title shot, but he is available and one would think would jump at the opportunity.
Robert Helenius: Last fought vs Dereck Chisora and was gifted a decision, yet he had arm issues and might be ready by Nov/Dec but will likely be too rusty to attempt a title shot.
Alexander Povetkin: last fought in February, no future fights scheduled, but Hasim Rahman will still want his shot vs Povetkin and given the choice between the two we must figure Alex chooses Rahman.
Tomaz Adamek: Scheduled to fight in September, it's unlikely he'll fight Wlad in Nov or Dec.
Kubrat Pulev: A slightly green pro with only 16 fights, but he's undefeated and having fought and KO'd Dimitrenko he could be best suited to fight Wladimir.
Seth Mitchell: Scheduled to fight Jonathan Banks in September, doubtful he's ready for Wlad this year.
Cris Arreola: Boxrec doesn't have him scheduled to fight Bermane Stiverne anymore (damn, I would LOVE to see that fight), but he should be ready in Nov/Dec and would be a durable and dangerous test for Wladimir.
Bermane Stiverne: Not a good "boxer" but one hell of a slugger, and if anyone that has the power to hurt Wlad it's this guy. Last fought in April, had been bandied about as an opponent for Arreola, but that may have fallen through.
There are certainly others up for consideration, but I would venture to guess that these fellas are the main ones worth looking at.

Re: Wlad to fight again in Novermber or December
It will be Chisora if he doesn't get humilated against Haye.
-
Re: Wlad to fight again in Novermber or December
I wouldn't mind him trying to make a "bum of the month club", if he does pick up the pace then he does have a very good chance of challenging, matching, or even beating Joe Louis' record for successful title defenses (Wlad is at about 13/14 at the moment).
-
Re: Wlad to fight again in Novermber or December
Has Wlad indicated how long he plans to keep fighting? I don't look at Wlad as one of those HW's who attempt to hang on way too long. Nor do I think Wlad will ever make one of those ill-fated comebacks. So let's say for argument's sake that Wlad will fight until age 38. That would give him a couple more years to face some of those opponents you mention. Solis to me is a waste of flesh and bones, and is undeserving of a title shot. Mitchell is raw as hell... and I have my reservations about an ex-football player having any real shot at a HW title. He's likable and exciting to watch, but I don't picture him at the elite level. I had high hopes for Arreola at one time, but his meltdown against Vitali three years ago turned me off. Other than that, yeah.... it'd be nice to see Wlad systematically take on all the top prospects before calling it a career.
-
Re: Wlad to fight again in Novermber or December
38? That's just 2 years (4 fights give or take). I think he'll fight into his 40's, I think he's hitting a groove much like Lennox Lewis did right before the Klitschko's started knocking on the door. Seth Mitchell will get a shot eventually because he's young, he's exciting, he's American, and he fights like an American heavyweight should. In reality at this moment in time Wlad is not fighting opponents he's fighting against himself, because that's the only person that can beat him. I want Arreola to fight Wlad because Cris had the pressure and the chin to push Wlad, and he has some heart too...plus Wlad wants to fight in the US again so it makes sense. After that I would like to see if Stiverne can develop into a threat. I doubt Adamek wants to fight Wlad, Povetkin has done everything in his power to stay away from him (truthfully I want Povetkin-Mitchell before Mitchell fights Wlad, get Seth in with someone technical and see how he does).
After that I really can't say who will get a shot, deserve a shot, because there are fighters who get injured, suffer shock defeats, come back out of retirement, burst onto the scene out of nowhere....and you never can tell who it will be. All I know is at this moment there are 3 certainties in life, Death, taxes, and Wladimir Klitschko as the Heavyweight Champion of the World.

Re: Wlad to fight again in Novermber or December
A four man tourney has been ordered by the IBF. Pulev-Solis & Adamek-Ustinov are the matchups being eyed for the tourney.
Odlanier Solis-Kubrat Pulev IBF Eliminator is Ordered - Boxing News
Arreola: I think his camp are waiting to see if Vitali will retire after Charr. IMO they are eyeing a "vacant" WBC belt.
Helenius: Wegner (his trainer) has stated Robert will have 2-3 tuneups before fighting a top level guy due to his career threatening shoulder injury.
Povetkin: Call me crazy but I think his handlers will put him in with Wladimir later next year. Not in the first half of the year but the second.
-
Re: Wlad to fight again in Novermber or December
Thanks for the updates.
Ustinov is a big ask for Adamek, but he's never fought anyone all that great, he's just big. I figure Boytsov would get a shot if he could stay healthy. Boytsov vs Povetkin would be a great scrap as well. I would also figure that Tyson Fury would get a shot although I would like to see Fury-Dimitrenko before that happens.

I don't know anyone who has even an iota of doubt about how any of those three fights would play out. If Chisora were to beat Haye, he'd be the best opponent. But there really isn't anyone in the division outside the Klitchkos who isn't either (a) a prospect or (b) total shit. I mean, Adamek definitely would have lost his last fight if Chambers hadn't lost an arm in the first round. And Povetkin and Helenius both deserved to lose their last fights (against mediocre competition).
I'm just bummed we never got to see a Klitchko take on Valuev -- strictly for the spectacle of seeing a guy that huge get KO'd.

Wlad needs a new strategy. Fight every 10 weeks for 2 years, destroy 10 opponents and retire.
Povetkin-already had his chance against Wlad and didn't take it.
Arreola-his team was talking about Wlad and I believe have changed their mind
Stiverne-not ready
Mitchell-not ready
Fury-not ready
Boystov-not ready
Price-not ready
Pulev-not ready
Adamek or Solis are reasonable options. But Adamek got destroyed by Vitali and hasn't looked great since. Solis has been injured and likely won't take it. Helenius-he got his ass kicked by Chisora, and then has been injured. They won't take the fight.
We probably get left with a fight we don't want.
-
Re: Wlad to fight again in Novermber or December
Nightmare scenario:
Solis finally gets his fat ass in shape and declares himself ready.
Mitchell gets a few more tuneup fights... works out the technical kinks in his game... and declares himself ready.
Arreola gets a set of balls to go along with his punching power, and declares himself ready.
Helenius completely recovers from his arm injury, has a tune-up fight or two... and declares himself ready.
Stiverne learns some technical skills to go along with his power, and declares himself ready.
"Mago" the Russian gets a few more fights under his belt, and declares himself ready.
But by then, Wlad is 42 years old, and says:
"I've been waiting for the last few years to fight you bums. But now I'm past my prime, and I'm going to retire. Ciao."

Why not give it to the people that do want to fight them. Arreola or Chisora. When they took on the Klits they gave it there all.

Of this list I think Solis "MIGHT" have a chance with Vitali, not Wlad though. Solis has a chance of outboxing Vitali for me but Wlad is so much better at the fundamentals than his brother that he would easily outbox and stop Solis. Other than that I don't give anyone on that list much chance. I hope in 6-12 months Price and Wilder come on and give us someone to talk about. Haye did it, I'm not saying everyone gave him a chance but the fact that some did made for a great build up!
We have to face facts now Wlad is the best HW out there and no one else is even close. This is like when Lennox was ruling. After Evander got too old no one was really good enough to share a ring with him. Maybe Wlad could have a Rahman moment and not take a fight 100% seriously and get caught? I doubt it though, he seems to be very professional.
I think Arreola will get this fight in the back end of the year but the result will be the same... Klitschko KO
As for Fury there is not a chance he'd accept a fight with Wlad, he was shit scared of Price and he's still very much on the learning curve so fighting Wlad who is already an ATG and sure fire HOFer is a serious no go. If someone told Fury he had to fight Wlad, his chemical toilet would explode with all the shitting he would be doing!

A couple hours after posting this, I saw an interview with Manny Steward saying that they'd fight Chisora if he beat Haye. That would be the fight to make if that happened.
-
Re: Wlad to fight again in Novermber or December
I'd be tempted to say that it will be the winner of Haye vs Chisora. Biggest moneymaker IMO, and they will be well aware of that. He could probably make money fighting Helenius or Wach but no-one worldwide would really care.
-
He needs to fight someone with a pulse, but a lot of them aren't ready for the fight yet. But i do think a lot of the contenders mentioned in this thread will be ready to step up soon, wlad is getting older which is only a good thing for these contenders wanting to fight at the top. Personally I think somebody of Klitchkos size/build is going to be able to step up to beating him though. I don't think somebody of Haye or Chisoras build has any chance, they are too
Small to make an impact on wlad.

Some people refuse to see the truth about Haye even to this day. I'm certain there are people out there figuring Haye will stand toe-to-toe with Chisora and get in an all out war.....but oh well, I guess they're in for a surprise....again
I care about people seeing Haye for what he is, are you telling me that you think people should care about you not caring about the Klitschko's?

I dont care if people care if I care or not ;D Just saying, I dont care who Wlad fights and I had no idea he was fighting, no need to get menstrual about it, I dont care!
You're not still offering yourself up as some sort of prophet are you? :-\

So you decide to post about how you don't know/care about it? I'm sorry, just trying to put together why you would take time out of your busy day to do such a thing. I might say to myself "Hmm I didn't know ____ was fighting or had fought recently, odd" but I wouldn't take the time to mention it in a post about that fighter probably because I don't care and not posting would be a sign of how much a don't care.
Prophet? No, I'm no prophet, I just call it like I see it and although I called David Haye out 4 years ago for just being a shit talking wanker there was nothing prophetic about it, that's just what the guy is.....now I took it a step further and asked that he be taken to task about all the shit he talked, but apparently that won't happen, perhaps because the Brits feel a little sore over the subject.
-
Re: Wlad to fight again in Novermber or December
;D Same Old bullshit
Most Brits this, Brits dont like it that. Seriously man its getting old.

Re: Wlad to fight again in Novermber or December
Without Haye's shit-talk Wlad would've never made his huge career high payday.
The worst thing possible for the Klits was the Haye-Chisora press conference fight. Haye-Vitali, Chisora-Wlad were by far their highest profile bouts.
Now Wlad will be praying Chisora beats Haye.

So you're agreeing with me that Haye didn't deserve the hype by saying "Haye's shit talk" made the fight big. Quick question, did Holyfield shit talk Tyson? Was the fight still big?....just saying.
Why would Wlad hope Chisora beats Haye? It doesn't matter to Wlad he'd easily beat them both no matter who he chose to fight IF he actually chose to fight either of them. Haye certainly has done nothing to warrant another shot, Chisora hasn't done much either other than act like he belongs in a damn zoo.
Memphis, you know what gets old? People hating on The Klitschko's, that gets old. But you go right ahead and watch the Chav and the retard fight (what title is on the line again?) and make them millionaires for being fucking wankers.
-
What we have here is an abundance of second rate opponents, when you compare them to the Klitschkos. The Klitschkos should retire long enough to let an 'undisputed Champ' be determined, and then come back to whip his ass. You guys are beating this subject to death, it's the same theme every day, from a different angle! The only HW fight I want to see has opponents with the same last name. How much money would it take to get those two in the ring, for a serious fight? That's the question you guys should concentrate on. It's all about the money, and money does make everyone listen! Hey, maybe they could be forced into a 'Unification' fight. I'm for any idea that will get you guys talking about something, other than the next opponent for the Klitschkos. Did you ever notice that Klitschko ends with KO? See, you guys are driving me crazy!

I dont hate on the Klits? I was just saying Im not overly interested in who Wlad beats up next. No disrespect to the guy but it will be as dull as dishwater. As an event Haye Chisora beats Wlad V .......

Odlanier Solis, Bermane Stiverne, Arreola, Seth Mitchel, Povetkin, Chisora, Robert Helenius, and Adamek would all make good fights for Wlad, bring 'um on and let's see them, I don't care in which order. HBO should try and pick up some of these fights.

Can I ask one question Lyle my old mate? I'm not disagreeiing with anything you're saying BUT, do you think Haye will lose to Chisora? I genuinely want to know!
As a fellow fan of the HW's, I do value your opinion on this matter. I'm expecting an early KO from Haye with him moving, making Chisora miss clumsily and then making him pay. If not very early (1st or 2nd) then latest 8th or 9th!
I know you hate Haye and I 100% understand why but I also hope you can look past that and give an honest opinion on the matter.
-
I wouldn't want to see him in with Helenius or Adamek. Arreola might be ok, but really whoever he fights is going to get pummelled. I know it's unlikely, but I'd like to see Povetkin finally step up and fight Wlad.
Hopefully over the next 12 months some of these younger fighters can develop enough to test Wlad. At the minute everyone seems to be too inexperienced or simply not good enough.

Certainly, I will be glad to answer this question in detail. In my UNBIASED opinion Haye has the athletic ability and 1 punch power to make life difficult for anyone. Dereck Chisora is a hard nut to crack (pun intended). Chisora seems to have mental issues, whether he's autistic as his trainer says, or mildly retarded, or bipolar or whatever the case is Chisora is just a little "off". All that being said I think based on recent fights and IF Chisora shows up in shape, then Chisora is liable to win a decision due to his effort and higher output of punches as David Haye fights a negative fight throwing under 20 punches a round. I figure if Helenius & Vitali can't hurt Chisora then David Haye will have a hard time as well. Haye does has a different kind of power, a quicker, less heavy kind of power that would be more along the lines of a Ferrari than a Mack Truck (to use a Teddy Atlas analogy) and maybe Chisora doesn't take that as good as the more deliberate shots. If David Haye is to win and look good doing it he needs to pump the jab, make Chisora work his way in, make Chisora pay for real estate, circle out and repeat. Haye will need to tire Chisora out and lure him in to a check hook or an uppercut (or both) in order to hurt and perhaps stop Dereck. To win the fight Chisora just needs to get into Haye's chest, make Haye run, do work to the body to slow him down, and muscle up on him to make things uncomfortable in there because David Haye will look for a way out when put under constant pressure.
I see this going the distance and Haye getting a very close controversial decision, perhaps having survived a knockdown or two.
I wonder if there are any longshots to challenge Wlad, Liakhovich, Maskaev, Valuev, Golota, Ruiz? Anyone Willing and able to come out of retirement to fight him and allow the youngsters to get prepared.

Re: Wlad to fight again in Novermber or December
At this rate it will be Haye v Wlad 2 because no one is ready.

1. I'm saying Haye's "shit-talk" produced Wlad his most lucrative and high profile ever contest. Do you think Wlad was NOT happy about making $21 million due to his opponents brilliant promotion?
2. Tyson was a money making global phenomenon. Every corner of the world purchased a piece of him. Wlad is a nobody outside Germany/Eastern Europe so is helped by controversial characters.
3. Wlad hopes Chisora beats Haye because the fight is already sold to the public with Chisora's antics and performance against Vitali.
You need to get this into perspective - Wlad-Haye got 16.5 million viewers on German TV. Wlad-Thompson got 6 million. If you think Wlad is unhappy about these "badboy" characters boosting the interest in his fights you are mad.

I do think people are reading too much into the Vitali fight. He was clearly injured and had he not been I think Chisora would have been stopped in the middle rounds. Add to that the fact he is 40 and to be fair has never been the most mobile and Chisora is made to look better than he actually is. As for Helenius, I never really rated the guy anyway to be honest though I did expect him to beat Chisora (by that I mean without the controversy). Also Haye has at the very least quite badly hurt every guy he has ever fought barring Wlad and I don't see much changing this weekend, Chisora IMO will fold when he does get hurt.
As for the guys you mention I've always been intrigued by a Wlad vs Valuev fight. I don't for a second think Wlad loses to Valuev (for me it has to be an explosive puncher to beat Wlad or someone with an insane workrate and chin like Evander was), but it's a new set of problems for Wlad to deal with and I think it could make for a semi decent fight as I'm not sure Wlad would be as keen to hold Valuev as he is the smaller guys! Also I'd love to see the big man down properly, I thought Haye was about to put him down in the last round but he just failed. I'm sure someone who isn't particuarly hard to hit like Valuev would be down at some point against Wlad. Also it would be marketable due to his size!

Haye still didn't make the fight vs Wlad interesting or competitive, Tyson-Holyfield was big because Holyfield was a legit threat to Tyson, and I'm sure Wlad doesn't care who wins because all it means is another paycheck it's not like Haye or Chisora have a chance against Wlad.
There could have been 80 million viewers, the fact is David Haye is still a punk and nothing will change that. He talked and talked and didn't deliver or even attempt to make good on his word.

Whether Haye is a punk or not is irrelevant.
If you believe a man as intelligent as Wlad doesn't "care" whether he earns $1million or $20million well... ().
Holyfield was a 25/1 underdog against Tyson (he didn't have a chance in hell according to popular opinion). Many figures in the boxing industry were fearing for his life. It was big because it involved two great fighters, two American's in America and Tyson is one of the most famous people in history.

Re: Wlad to fight again in Novermber or December
So by your rational if Haye wins Wlad won't make big money? And if Chisora wins he will? At this point in time there's no difference in Haye & Chisora. Dereck spit in Wlad's face I guess that is a teeny tiny little storyline, but shit man this is BOXING not the WWE and I'm telling you this whole idea (that 2 fighters from a certain little island have adopted) of "Look at what an asshole I can be" doesn't do well. Sure you can stir up people who will want to see you knocked out, but the regular boxing fans don't pay much attention to shit talking......especially when it wasn't backed up to begin with!!!

Mate your working on the assumption that Haye, Chisora, Wlad etc etc are out to please us hard working loyal boxing fans who spend their days and nights on the forums having verbals on their behalf. They aint!
