Sergey Kovalev - Jean Pascal this weekend
Ring magazine fighter of the year Sergey Kovalev takes on the tough Jean Pascal this weekend which will be an outstanding fight. Pascal has been in good form since his defeat to Hopkins and having only tasted defeat to Froch as well, he has only lost to the very best. But does he have what it takes to defeat Kovalev? Going off the Hopkins fights for both men you wouldn't think so. He's also not really a busy fighter a lot of the time and fights in spells. I don't also see how that will be enough to beat Kovalev either. Kovalev is really good and he proved that last time out and was rightfully fighter of the year. I see him winning a UD here.

That's still a massive fight though, especially in Canada

Driving defensively. Smart!

Re: Sergey Kovalev - Jean Pascal this weekend
Pascal can't fight for twelve rounds anymore. I'll be amazed if he manages to hear the final bell here. Either he gets sparked or stopped late. If a miracle happens and he hears the final bell then it'll be a wide Kovalev points win.

Re: Sergey Kovalev - Jean Pascal this weekend
I look for a ROTY candidate somewhere in this fight. Kudos to Pascal for stepping up.

Re: Sergey Kovalev - Jean Pascal this weekend
Sergey Kovalev is a beast and is great to watch him at work. I like Pascal but Kovalev is destined to meet and beat Stevenson.

Re: Sergey Kovalev - Jean Pascal this weekend
Sergey Kovalev v Jean Pascal : IBF/WBO/WBA Light-Heavyweight Titles
Vyacheslav Glazkov v Steve Cunningham : 12 Rounds Heavyweight
Vasily Lepikhin v Isaac Chilemba : 12 Rnds Light-heavyweight
-
Re: Sergey Kovalev - Jean Pascal this weekend
Pascal has the ability to hurt Kovalev. He had Hopkins down and Kovalev has been down before.

Cunningham vs Glazkov could be interesting...Cunningham surprised me at heavyweight ...he was decent enough against Fury, until Fury used every physical advantage he had against much smaller Cunningham...and a good enough win against Masour...
As for Pascal vs Kovalev...yeah Kovalev will most probably win this, but an upset by Pascal wouldn't be that surprising IMO...

Terrible style for Pascal who wants a slow fight. There was a reason Hopkins raced to meet Pascal, Pascal likes a pace that Hopkins likes. Sergei won't let Pascal fight at his pace. Pascal will start covering up and Sergei will destroy the body. The question is do the body shots end it or do his hands drop and a head shot ends it. This won't go 12(I hate saying that because any time fans agree a fight won't go 12 inevitably it does)

Re: Sergey Kovalev - Jean Pascal this weekend
Kudos to Sergey Kovalev for going to Canada into the lions den. There have been a few suspect decisions there of late. I hope Marcos B Wright is not the referee

It's Marlon B. Wright and you're the one who took their name from a disgraced corrupt judge. Moron.

Re: Sergey Kovalev - Jean Pascal this weekend
im excited for this fight because im a huge kovalev fan. i think that kovalev will hurt pascal early/mid-way through the fight and then he will be on the defensive the rest of the fight and lose a decision. i wouldnt be surprised to see kovalev stop him but i dont think that pascal will let that happen.

Re: Sergey Kovalev - Jean Pascal this weekend
Pascal would have probably had his moments a few years ago, no idea now. Can't see him winning or slowing the pace enough either, but he does have a punch and that herky jerk kind of southpaw style, not out of the question he'd be able to time Kovalev with something big early and make it interesting.
Cunningham should beat Glazkov I'd say, that's a good co main as well.

Re: Sergey Kovalev - Jean Pascal this weekend
really looking forward to this. Two quality matches and I think Pascal can and will have a moment early before he is made stationary and cut down. Going into Hopkins I thought Kovalev had developed tunnel vision on pure power with all of the KO talk but in that small window, when he set Hopkins up and walked him into the brutal kd punch, that in a nutshell is the how much more he really is. Very sharp and very cagey in his own way. Wondering how much of a "Jones Jr" approach Pascal will make early on. He gets too cute and plays the bait game he very well may find himself on his arse very quick. Just can't see him having the work rate or mobility to put Kovalev on his heels and-or make the final bell.

I like this kovalev guy..imagine a fight with carl froch..yes please.
Kovalev destroyed that welsh guy so bad he left the divison..he is the man to beat and loved his work against Hopkins.
-
Re: Sergey Kovalev - Jean Pascal this weekend
It's a fair matchup and if it was 4 rounds it would be more of a toss up, but Kovalev will likely stay alert early and then pile on some hurt as Pascal loses steam.

Re: Sergey Kovalev - Jean Pascal this weekend
It's a real shame about Cleverly. He had good output and fast hands, but when push came to shove he really folded against Kovalev. It's easy for an armchair fan to criticize but I expected a bit more from the career of Cleverly and a much smarter performance against Kovalev. Probably no real way back now that his confidence seems to have dissipated.

Kov looks like an outstanding fighter, clev wasn't doing that badly
I read kov has had a bad camp and has been koed in sparring
Take it with a pinch of salt I know

Kovalev is fantastic. It's just never good when a top fighter gets beaten down easily and it seems some can never really bounce back from that. You always think of boxers as being tough as nails and they are, but you forget how vulnerable they must be and especially after taking a licking. It's a funny one boxing. Then there are the likes of Toney that can lose, but they never really seem terribly hurt and mentally could probably fight even with a zimmerframe.

Re: Sergey Kovalev - Jean Pascal this weekend
Kov is a beast. I think mentality will be a large factor in this fight n Kov has a killer's mentality while Pascal is a bit of a head case in my opinion. Pascal will likely have some moments early, but I just can't see him stopping Kov or boxing a disciplined fight for 12 rounds. I agree with the prediction that he either gets sparked or stopped late from exhaustion. My one, tiny hesitation is that I wonder if Hop fought his age more so than Kov being that good. I think Kov is the real deal, but I can also see where I may be putting too much emphasis on that win...

I think Pascal gets steamrolled.

Great card :D
I also heard rumours of Kovalev getting knocked down in sparring :-\ I still have some concerns about his chin but I think he'll manage to take Pascal out late :)

I see Pascal getting KO Tam, he is tough but Kovalev has that crushing punch power, and Pascal
is a bit open, and if your fighting Kovalev you must have a good defense to stand a chance of
beating him.!
