I guess not, I personally don't believe Vic would quit, unless it was something like a broken jaw, especially in a fight like this. A rematch would be the order of the day once the jaw heals properly.

I like Ortiz, but yeah, no doubt that he can be a strange bird at times, although the broken jaw in this one, was definitely legit.

Myself I had Ortiz up by a round or two as well.
Lopez hung tough and "behaved like a fighter" as Teddy Atlas would say. Nonetheless Ortiz's jaw looked to be broken so can't blame the guy for quittin in this one.
He is a head case though, a bit like Golota or Tyson. He kinda snaps when someone stands up to him or he's not having his way.

I thought that Matthysse looked pretty good tonight. I like that style, just walking a guy down and picking your shots. I also thought Soto looked good, and I would like to see more of him. he just didn't carry the weight well, but he has some skills.

So.. any thoughts on who Canelo will face next on September? Would it be Lopez? Cause I don't think that fight should be made, only reason would be if Lopez really thinks he can carry the extra weight and/or cashing in. Either way, great night for boxing. Feel sorry for Ortiz, but hey, it's boxing. I think he was leading the fight before it got stopped, and for a moment immediately after the stoppage I was questioning his heart for the 2nd time, but I think a broken jaw is a legit way if you want to quit.

I think Lopez has a couple options. He could fight mike dallas, whom he previously stopped, but has since won 4 fights on ESPN. Make a few bucks. Then fight bradley.

I'm pretty sure there was a rematch clause for this fight and I imagine Ortiz will take it.
