When that civil war went on over there somewhere back 15 years ago or so we took in many Albanians into an old quarantine station thats out on the end of the point here. Nice place neat as a pin solid old Victorian place with ocean views in a park setting.
They got taken on an excursion into town to shop and the shop keepers lost hundreds of dollars of stuff to them.
That lot wrecked it for the odd one thats probably ok.

I have to say that I am hugely disappointed. Whatever you think about Immigration some of the wholesale unabated racist stereotyping in this thread is pretty sickening. Not all Roma are Romani, not all Romani are criminals and now apparently Albanians, Polish and Bulgarians are being tarred with the same brush. Call it what you like, but it I will not be silenced by claims of self aggrandising and paranoia just because I refuse to join in with the verbal tar and feathering of any race, ethnicity or social group that some other man tells me is the bogeyman.

Mate,it happened. That isnt racist its a fact,as a community we voted to help them out as a community they ripped us off. Its just a fact that they operate on completely different principles than we do here.

Ive had this exact conversation with an Albanian right up front, a guy I worked for for a couple of weeks. (If I held anything against them, I wouldnt of worked for him I would of made the excuse I had too much on and left) But I had this exact conversation with him and another because a friend who deals antiques got taken for 200 grand of stock ad when he went to get paid got to look down a barrrel and told if he wants to take it further his family will become involved.So I had the conversation, cause i wanted to make sure I was to be paid and he knew why the conversation arose and was upstanding and outstanding and Albanian. This guy ,whos other family members they have to see on occasions, he tells me he fears. He tells his kids dont take anything from these people no promises no plans to meet up with their kids,anytime, anywhere, nothing,drums it into them! That is very sad for him and his family. Thats because they'll turn up with something they will 'have to mind' or call it in later as some favor.. "Hey come on we shouted you out onto the go carts come on you owe us this " and bang this guys kids later in life would be drawn into their 'game' unwittingly.
That is straight from within their own family.
What should I have said to him?
Im hugely disappointed for this unabated stereo typing?

I never called you a racist.
"Why get emotional on fact" ? That is something that is often attributed to my posts and usually it's imposing a tone that's not there. Being emotional though is not a fault and I feel a great affinity for my Gypsy Nan I can't just take the easy road and shut my mouth.
We have the Romany blood in our family line through the Maclannen side. Not as close as yours though. I think its very cool.

True but you cant change the majority of people on either side of that coin.
There were some great Germans during their worse period; Rommel was one a true gentleman who wanted only to fight a war in the way gentlemen do. And their are great ones now, I feel for them having to beat against the tide of others past actions, but it makes for some real stand outs when they do stand out from the crowd.
Same goes for all other races including all the races my blood is from with their horrible past; some roses grow out of some shit sometimes and they are the best you can get.

Obviously yall have beat this topic pretty well but I read this article today. You don't have to guess where a libertarian outlet falls on free movement of people but it may be interesting for a US perspective.

Other reasearch suggests that the contributions are slight if any. But that isn't the point, the point is why are borders being opened to one and all? It certainly hasn't been discussed with the British people, who seem to want this rid of.
It isn't racist to point out the disprepancies. Romania has a minimum wage of 88 pence, Britain has 6 pounds odd. That is a difference 700%. It is a bloody lot of money for them and if you will live in shitty conditions for a few years and get what you can, you can go home in a couple of years and have a house. Maybe come back again and buy another and now be a landlord.
The poor Brits in the UK and in particular stupid Duncan Jones with 2 GCSE'S to his name, don't have a hope in the world competing with this lot. Is this his fault? He's just not very smart, but there are smarter, who will do the menial job happily as they know there is an end goal. There can be no end goal for Duncan. He lives in unaffordable London with his family. He has to look for better paid jobs that he will NEVER find as they are being advertised in Romania first. At home with Mum for life perhaps, maybe never destined for a wife either.
The experiment taking place in the UK is an extremely audacious one and is clearly planned. The limits of how much the ordinary English can afford to be pushed back is going to felt with continued economic stagnation (ignore fat Dave and his spin) and people getting thrown further under.
Nobody is racist for wanting to control immigration, but are pragmatic in wanting a lot more control over the situation. I want it for sure. I have an end goal of growing carrots on a farm, but though Korea is alright, I would much rather grow carrots in Scotland. I think many expats feel the same, they would like to come home, but the more things change in ways that they feel are wrong, the ability or opportunities to return decline exponentially. Many of us didn't leave because of any dislike of our homes. Home is home and to be alienated from home permanently is bad. The Romanians can come along short term and do well. I could come home and really I'm in the situation of the snooty Brit. It's minimum wage, of course you can't pay rent on that job etc, and so it will go to others who can really make coin out of it.
You are then automatically stranded in no mans land. I see where the youth of England probably are right now, maybe school propaganda has taught them that this is normal and the way of things. It really shouldn't be though. It's the fastest slope to majority serfdom.

Minimum wage does not tell the whole story. You need median wage compared to cost of living. If by moving to the UK my wage goes up 80% but my cost of living goes up 100% then I'm at a 20% loss in disposable income. I have no idea what those numbers really are but people move for the prospect of a better life not simply a higher income. There are lots of Mexicans that come to the US and work for 6 months and then go back home for the rest of the year. They do this b/c the cost of living is SO much cheaper in Mexico.

Not if you sleep 8 to a room and have purposely starved yourself off culturally. You are easily making big money that goes much further back home. Why should English people be forced to live like that? It's an elementary argument, but I cannot think of anywhere that will pay me 8 times the British minimum wage. Of course those that can will jump right into it. It is terrible though as it shows 100% disregard for British workers.
The British need to revolt sooner or later. If not then they are done in Britain and it won't be Britain 50 years. You might as well rename the Olympics and Football teams too. It won't be Britain.
