Not quite what I had in mind, but I see what you mean. OK, Panama is kind of on an angle. To the North and south I meant to the immediate neighbors north and south. More or less to the north of Panama is Costa Rica, more or less to the South is Columbia. Panama is also bordered by the Pacific on the west and the Caribbean on th east.
The marijuana, famous in the 70s, is known as Panama Red. Here's a link. Good old Wiki. :D
Panama Red - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I had to check a map after I answered this, I was wrong north and south.
The next country to the north is Cuba and to the south is Equador. Of course, there's a bit of water in the way. Can I get half credit on this one? Interesting article on the red BTW.

Re: A little history/geography quiz
Ok, next one, name the seven seas, the modern interpretation of the seven seas.
-
Re: A little history/geography quiz
Ok lets see now...
Atlantic Ocean
Pacific Ocean
Indian Ocean
Arctic Ocean
Mediterranean
Caribbean
Baltic Sea
Damn this is tougher than I thought, probably not of these are right.

Actually the only one that's wrong is the Baltic. Good job man.

Re: A little history/geography quiz

Oh yeah, I remember now. We had a trivia question on that. Panama is to blame for all of England's rain by diverting the Gulf Stream, or something like that. :)

OK, I'm gonna take a stab at this and say The Antarctic Ocean, even though something tells me there is no such thing.

OK, while we're waiting for that 7th Sea, here's a toughie...
What are/were the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World?
Hint: All were manmade, only one still stands today.

Great Wall of China.

The Hanging Gardens of Babylon is another?
The Pyramids of Egypt?
Ancient Mayan Ruins?

Great Wall of China.
I would have guessed that, but no the Great Wall of China is not one of the Wonders of the Ancient World, it is one of the Seven Wonders of the World. A different and separate list. Go for that list if you want.
Anyways, welcome to the game. Keep trying, and come up with your own questions if you want.
The Hanging Gardens of Babylon is one of them. I'll also accept the Pyramids of Egypt, although technically, it is one specific pyramid that is on the list. No to Mayan Ruins

Re: A little history/geography quiz
I`d guess the one that looks like a lion, with a pharoahs head. Can`t remember its name and don`t want to google cheat it. Yea...I kinda realized the Great Wall was wrong after I thought about it. Shooting from the hip here. I have both history and geo this term...so will likely join in more and tnx for the welcome. :)

:) Actually, I checked on a couple of different websites, and the answer is 17,508. Yep. It caught me by surprise. I imagine some of them might be kind of small.
And the arseholes want Australia for their 17,509 th .

Re: A little history/geography quiz
I was gonna say Gulf of Mexico, but ruled it out.
Anyways, your 5 picks for ancient wonders are all correct. Well Done Killersheep
The story of the Alexandria Lighthouse is particularly interesting. Built around 300 BC, it was the tallest man-made structure in the world for many centuries, at over 115 metres. Eventually it was destroyed by earthquake.
Two more ancient wonders to go.

The Tower of Babel, I believe that was the structure that was built on the instruction of God by representatives of all the peoples of the earth, that stretched all the way to heaven? Hell yeah, that should be on the list.
-
Re: A little history/geography quiz
X has more or less correctly identified the final two ancient wonders. Damn, that was not as tough as I had hoped.

Re: A little history/geography quiz
We spend millions upon millions helping them out every year and thy sh!t on us in other areas.
We are simply buying them off and keeping the peace by throwing money at them.
Used to be peanuts we threw at them and they were happy. But they have evolved into a corrupt monster.
