I believe the next country to the south of Panama would be Peru, to the east is Columbia, to the west is Costa Rica I think? Directly to the North is the US. As for the mary jane, um Panama Jack?

Not quite what I had in mind, but I see what you mean. OK, Panama is kind of on an angle. To the North and south I meant to the immediate neighbors north and south. More or less to the north of Panama is Costa Rica, more or less to the South is Columbia. Panama is also bordered by the Pacific on the west and the Caribbean on th east.

I had to check a map after I answered this, I was wrong north and south.
The next country to the north is Cuba and to the south is Equador. Of course, there's a bit of water in the way. Can I get half credit on this one? Interesting article on the red BTW.
