Cotto has a slightly better defence than Margarito and Shane was laoding up on the over hand right and that was all he was doing really in the Cotto fight. Against Margarito he could basically hit him with anything. Mayorga took Shanes shots far better than Margarito did.

You, nor anyone else "knows" he cheated. I think the fight has been drained out of Cotto over the Margarito, Clottey and Mosely fights and as soon as mayorga starts landing hard and bullying him, he will not have the fortitude to dog it out for the win, like anyone has to in a Mayorga fight, fit or not. Mayorga gave Trinidad, De La Hoya and Mosley some awkward moments before he gassed out but with his recent activity im expecting a much fitter and better prepared Mayorga.

Cotto has "slightly" better defense then Margarito? Margarito's defense is using his face to block punches. That's not considered defending anything. He's a walking punching bag that knew his hands were wrapped and if he could take a beating and give his hands time to cement, he could win.

Look, we can go back and forth all day on this "did cheato really cheat" but there's no denying there's doubt.

I will agree with you on the note that Cotto isnt the same fighter he was. No one would be if they got hit by a bat in the face for 11rds. I'm a huge Cotto fan and I want nothing more but for him to just retire as one of PR's greatests. I even put him on top of Trinidad. I would have love to see him fight Paul/Berto but I honestly and truely believe he went through FAR too much in the Rito fight and was a punching bag for Clottey and Pacroidio.

Now, IF and WHEN Cotto gets through your boy Mayorga, what are you going to say then? Mayorga is washed up? He wasn't smoking through training?

Ross, have a look at Cotto's face after the Margarito fight and have a look at Billy Collins Jnr face after Luis Resto took padding out of his gloves AND used plaster on his hand wraps during their fight. There is no doubt in my mind that Margarito cheated in that fight. I know it's old news and has been done to death but i rewatched Assault In The Ring last night and it brought back memories of the Cotto fight and it still angers me.

Ross I'm right there with you on liking Mayorga and rooting for him in this fight.

BUT I disagree with your hatred for Cotto bro. I mean its obvious to infer that Margarito who cheated against Mosley, or tried to, PROBABLY cheated in his other big fights as well, including Cotto, his biggest win ever.

Cotto is a good guy, his only faults are cheating on his wife and pulling down the pants of fat asses, and being short ;D

Seriously tho Cotto has fought a very respectable list of fighters and beaten almost all of them, he beat: Randal Bailey, Chop Chop Corley, Muhammad Albdeullaev, Kelson Pinto, Zab Judah, Sugar Shane Mosley etc.

I mean Miguel Cotto was hyped as the next Oscar Delahoya, its not his fault he wasn't as good as Oscar, he damn sure tried his best in every fight and has had a great career.

Cotto is in the latter part of his career, but he is still a force to be reckoned with.

I hope Mayorga has trained his ass off and has a game plan, one a bit more intelligent than the one he explained to Al Bernstien "I'm going to throw a four punch combination and knock him out." ;D

The same pattern throughout the whole thread. The two most outspoken rooters for Mayorga, yourself and Hulk. But whereas Hulk remains objective and is willing to give Cotto his due credit, you hate on Cotto like an adolescent wimp from whom Cotto must've stole lunch money. On a previous post, El Terrible posted some stats on Cotto's career and you just brushed them off like nothing had been said. Facts are a bitch, huh dude?

Cotto takes this for me. Better overall boxing ability and ring iq. I don't think he's that past it, and even if he is he's still the one with less wear and tear compared to Mayorga.

I was half being sarcastic but the difference is, Margarito was found to have loaded gloves in his following fight. The fact he fucked up Cotto's face as badly as he has done, and is yet to do the same to anyone else since then, obviously means there is strong suspicion that he had loaded gloves in that fight too.

The fact of the matter is, when someone is caught cheating, it's probably not the first time they've done it...
