Spinks did do his best to make it a good fight and exciting as possible...Truth is the more Sheridan announced the more I wanted Cory to lose.....

I am a Spinks fan...IMO he is one of the best fighters in the world...Was suprised he lost a decision in his hometown...I have seen all out robberies given to guys at home and Cory gets gyped?....I would like to see a rematch...

That was the worst decision I have seen in my entire boxing life, and I have seen alot of bad ones... I hate to say it, but was the fix in? There is just no possible way that any legit judge can give that to Phillips. Robbery!!

Love Phillips and have followed him since sensational 1st S.Cardona war........But he did not win this one. No way

I wouldnt be surprised if Dons cameras were positioned to show Spinks winning. They probably switched cameras angkes every time Verno was about to land a big punch.:-X
Good for Verno though taking the title in Coreys hometown.

If you think that is the worst decision you have seen in your entire boxing life then I would have to guess this is your 6th month following the sport:-\

I was giving Verno early rounds, I know for sure I gave him the second. He was landing the lead right alot, and Spinks would not initiate anything most of the night besides a pawing jab.... Some judges will score close rounds in the fight for aggressor's when it's happening excessively. I thought Cory did pretty good though and didnt run as much as he usually does. that one scorecard was off but I still give the nod to Verno.

atleast it wasnt as bad as zab TKOing him a couple of years ago.....its a good thing he didnt hire a rapper that wouldmake it worse...lol

Of the 8 rounds I saw, I would have to give Spinks 5 or 6 of them. Phillips only landed sporadically.

I never saw the first 4 rounds, but from what I have heard, Spinks was winning them.

Spinks landed a good punch on occassion, but for the most was just swinging wildly with his head down. Spinks controlled the tempo entirely, outboxed him almost every minute of every round. Spinks' hand speed was won him almost every exchange. I didn't much like the pompous ass who was announcing either, but I had it 10-2 Spinks.

Someone give me a worse decision in a major fight?

I caution on saying it was close. Close seems to indicate the fight could have gone either way. I don't think so.

It was semi-close. I wasn't scoring round for round but I definitely thought Spinks won the first 6 rounds, the first and fourth were close but I felt clearly tilted in Spinks' favor. Round 7 was Verno's best round of the fight and that was for what he did in the last 45 seconds, getting the slightly better end of an inside exchange.

Round 9 I have a feeling was given to Verno for the two big hooks at the end, but Spinks did the more effective work for a longer period that round, scoring with short combinations and that was the round he made best use of his uppercuts and hooks.

10 I gave to Spinks as I did the 12th.

So I guess that's about 3,4 or 5 rounds at most that I can honestly see being given to Phillips. How anyone could get 6, 7 or 8 rounds is completely from that is completely beyond me.

Phillips won some rounds, but he didn't win enough to win and all the rounds Phillips won could have gone the other way. He didn't win one single round hands down convincingly, which is another thing that shocked me so much about the decision.

Both are nice guys, but given all Cory has been through you hate to see him get robbed like this. Really disheartening, I have a feeling of genuine empathy for him. Everyone hates him because he seems a bit slow and has those ridiculous ring entrances, but he is a nice guy and one of boxing's more skilled fighters, hate to see things go like this.

There have been worse decisions but I agree, this definitely ranks with some of the worse ones. Wow, can't believe that.
