No offense Wacko, but if you're going to use compubox numbers as part of your argument, don't you think it's disingenuous to leave out the stats that clearly favor Vargas?
If you posted the full compubox stats, they would show that Vargas threw and landed a signifcantly higher amount of punches than Wright.

One judge pulled it at a draw. That's how close the fight was...not sure if you saw the fight or not. This thread is about contro fights...trust me...this one was controversial to the end.
They brought Vargas in with the famous "ferocious" aurra going on & alongside the famous Vegas White Tiger...Vargas was lauded as the next Oscar...he had the fight won before he climbed through the ropes.
Watch the fight & you can see how close it was...& why it is controversial.
Also...I aint trying to be as catty as that sounded...Wacko's on some serious pain killers for the back pains right now...I apologize...but until you sit down & see it for yourself...that's that.

Like I said...I wasn't being a dick or catty or whatever...but that fight holds a severe sore spot for me.
I think Wright won it & at the least should have drawn. He man handled Vargas for the majority of the fight & Vargas one maybe two or three rounds convincingly IWO.
You just have to see the fight. It's all opinion...but the stats don't add up for me when you see the performance.

I think the fact that Wright fought a lot better than people taught he would, made people think he actually won the fight. I have no idea why Wright toned it down in the championship rounds. He allowed a tired Vargas to out-work him. Nobodies fault but his own.

Jones had very little energy in this fight. Not much movement, no snap on his punches. But I gave him 7 rounds because he outworked Tarver.
In most rounds, Tarver would just stand there and do NOTHING for 2 and a half minutes, and then he would unleash one flurry, with some of the punches getting thru and many being blocked.
When the compubox numbers are similar, I'm going to give the round to the guy who controls the vast majority of the 3 minutes, not the guy who throws one or two flurries and just stands still for the rest of the round. Tarver whined and complained after this fight but he needed to look in the mirror because he let himself get beat by a guy who was nowhere near 100%.
