So why is Mayweather a punk for having to do the same?
Simple,Cotto nearly broke Paulie's face with the force of his blows and he would be passive for the odd round,he still nearly koed Paulie in the 12th...PBF threw a handful of shots and they looked more like potshots than his usual stinging shots....I thought he just used it as an excuse really. I didn't see him land many on Baldo's head either...
I too am led to believe it was an excuse and he was saving his hand for a real fight against a great opponent, that being Oscar. I say PBF was just avoiding not injuring it. He never had a cast nor did I hear anything about him going to a Doctor or nothing. That same night he was partying and no one at the party could tell if his hand was injured.

IMO, the only punk here is ODH for basically stipulating a handycap into the contract. Clearly he only wants Floyd to wear "punchers' gloves" because he's hoping Floyd will injure his hands and then he won't have to deal with a 100% Floyd. It would be one thing if ODH just wanted to be allowed to wear Reyes himself, but it's bullshit to include in the contract provisions concerning what gloves your opponent can wear--and it indicates that the person forcing in this provision isn't confident he can win on skill alone.

I guess it is a punk move on Oscars part but I do not blame him. What is he going to do? Let PBF come in with those huge pillows? But wait, didn't they change the pillow rule?

Mayweather Sr is going to tell Oscar to do what Forrest did to Mosley and time him.
The question is, does Oscar still have the reflexes and the speed to time Mayweather's shots and feints. If he cant then thats it for him.
I don't think Mayweather will come in at 154 I expect him to be 149 at the weigh in.
But I don't think the weight will be a factor.
Remember Roy Jones in his first fight at 168 dethroned James Toney, so it's possible.
big difference in the fact Jones jr didn't need to do much, if anything to get to 168. Mayweather is a natural at 140, making 147 was 'work' for him... 154 is another story
Re: Mayweather Jr. AGREES TO WEAR REYES
I don't think that it really matters...Floyd is going to try and out bicycle Oscar and pot shot him to a victory. But I could be wrong....if Floyd comes in with the plan of winning and being active doing it and not just running the whole time then win, lose, or draw I will respect him more as a fighter

Despite his gloves being heavier in the Baldomir fight (b/c they changed the rule on glove size at 147 in between that and the Judah fight), his gloves actually looked smaller than in the Judah fight. This whole "pillows" thing is all based on that one fight w/ Judah, where he wore white gloves, which look bigger than they are (like if you wear gleaming white shoes they'll look at least a full size bigger than the same-sized black shoe). It was funny to see Sal get all crazy about this, but honestly, it's a lame criticism. And agreed Oscar's being a pussy--he should let Floyd come in with whatever gloves he wants, so long as those gloves are officially sanctioned (you know, like every other fighter besides ODH and Erik Morales allows his opponent to do).

Yes--I think you've grasped it.
Re: Mayweather Jr. AGREES TO WEAR REYES
Actually, most if not all of the sanctioning bodies mandate that both combatants wear the same glove. So if it's Reyes for OLDH, then PBF's gotta wear 'em too.
Re: Mayweather Jr. AGREES TO WEAR REYES
Wow, I have access to the secret lab where they personally test Mayweather's new gloves
check them out! The defensive skills it gives them even on a trampoline!

Majesty, looks like you study Floyd very well. cc'd you for the valid points.
But I just messaged to say that Cotto beat the hell from Paul. Don't lessen
Cotto's performance.
Paul just had the guts to keep fighting back, even though he was outgunned.
Fight was difficult to watch for a Paul fan, me. Paul broke his jaw, didn't he? heh
That isn't a passive performance. Poor Paul won't fight in 2006 because of the beating.

Hopefully this will be a good fight. I had no respect for ODH until the Mosley fight. To me even though he lost, that is where he became a great fighter. Hopefully this will be the career defining fight for PBF. I personally think he is in trouble, and that he doesn't have the power to hurt ODH. ODH definitely does have enough to hurt Floyd, so I see it like when ODH fought Hopkins... It was just a matter of time. ODH is gonna put a hurtin on PBF if it's a fight. However, this could be what finally makes PBF a superstar. An exciting fight win or lose and it could turn into a trilogy.

To be honest both De La Hoya and Floyd always try to gain an advantage like this in important fights.
I don't know if you remember but Floyd moved up to light weight then when the fight with Coralles came through he moved back down to 130 because he didnt want to allow Coralles the extra weight.
Not that there was anything wrong with that but he certainly wanted Coralles to be as weight drained as possible.
Once he had beaten him, Floyd moved back up again

But even before then he had fought GREAT fighters....Chavez (albeit an old one) and Whittaker.
Oscar tested himself vs the best out there.....where is Floyd's Pernell Whittaker???
