But Kostya was good fighter but do you guys actually believe he would blow away Hatton in 2 you have got to be kidding.
Tszyu had a gastro attack the night before the Phillips fight and came into the ring under 140lb. He was easily beating Phillips in the first three rounds then lost all energy. I don't think he would have blown Fatton away in two rounds in 1999, I give him five tops. Just like the subject 'One fight to many' it happened to Tszyu in one fight and at 36 years of age he couldn't handle the younger opponent. Five or six years earlier and the fatboy is thinking how many drinks have i really had!!!

At the end of the day...Tszyu lost to Hatton. BUT, the conditions in that fight where far from ideal...fighting in England, not the greatest of referee, etc. However, Hatton must be given credit for rushing Tszyu (albeit, the referee let him get away with quite a bit) and wearing him down. I would have loved to see a rematch before i could simply say it was a style issue for Kostya...but then again Kostya isn't that young anymore.

I can see the same things being said if Hatton beats Castillo.
I am not making excuses for the loss...Hatton beat him fair and square...Tszyu was the man at the time they fought and not to sound cheesy :D...But you know the old expression...To be the man you have to beat the man....and that is what Hatton did....
But look at it like this....
Camacho Beat an old Ray Leonard...Do you think Ray would have lost to Hector Sr in his prime???....Most likely not...but Camacho did get a win over him.....Now if the fight took place 8-10 yrs earlier would you have picked Camacho?

Thats totally different Leonard was really old and had been shot for ages like when he got out boxed by Norris and hadn't fought for 6 years where as Kostya was knocking everybody out nobody thought before Hatton fight that he was shot thats why no one gave Hatton chance but now Hatton won people are saying he is shot and ect which makes me laugh considering they didn't give Hatton a hope in hell before.

Do you know what would clear up this murkiness in Hatton's career, a Tszyu - Cotto fight. If Tszyu won that things would become so clear to everyone. I say this because Hatton-Cotto probably won't happen.

I must be psychic coz I picked Fatton the moment I saw a gaunt looking Tszyu on the scale failing to make the weight! He had only fought three rounds in 2 1/2 years and we all got to excited about him blowing away 34 yr old Sharmba Mitchell. Age,injury,weight and a british referee all helped Fatton on the night. The Tszyu of 1999 v Fatton of 2005 is a short fight!

tszyu looked awsome against mitchel and was rated #3 pound per pound by the ring.all you have to do is look at each of tszyu,s past apponents and ask yourself could hatton have defeated them?and you will see that hatton on his best night is easily the toughest apponent or one the toughest tszyu had ever faced period.forget about age.just picture prime hatton vs jake rodriguez,or an old roger mayweather,what about jan bergman,or vince phillips? now that would be a fight! how about hatton against raphael ruelas,or hurtado?what about a very old chavez,or sharmba mitchel?what about urkal,zab judah,tackie, james leija?o.k.for the most part i could see hatton winning all of those fights,specially the hatton that beat tszyu.or even the pre tszyu hatton.my point is that tszyu fought his toughest and most fierce apponent in his last bout and that is why he lost!Tszyu was a very ,very good champ.but he could be beaten,he was by a prime upset minded vince phillips, and then again against the young and fierce challenger and now world 140 lb champ Ricky Hit Man Hatton!and he will be champ until someone knocks him off the throne. ;)

glennf, i dont think hatton could beat those guys easy ,i think tough fights for hatton of the bunch are the prime vince phillips ,mitchel,judah,and gonzales,even hurtado,and the other guys wouldnt be easy either,just like the top 140 lbers of today,witter, harris ,ndou,castillo,lazcano ngoudjo.he even went up and beat a top 10 147 lber,in a close one against collazo.if hatton is so lousy let him fight at his natural wt division and defend his title against guys his size.it seems some people wont be happy tell he steps up to 147 and fights the bigger guys.he has his work cut out for him at 140,with castillo and hopefully corrales , witter or harris,and torres.ndou.those would be good fights.hatton would lose to delahoya,mosely,clottey,but i am sure he could hang in the top 5 or 10 at 147 as well.for now he is the man at 140.the castillo fight should answer alot of questions though,for both guys.

Yep, you got all the fighters that he would have had trouble with, you know your stuff.
Hurtado would have been difficult for hatton, his reach and height was a problem for a lot of guys.
I guess i'm desperate for hatton to be seriously challenged and for that to happen he has to go to 147.
Would love to see him fight Cotto. You made good points!

Yeah same, when i saw him on the news at the weigh in i was like oh shit! Told my dad "kostyas gonna lose tomorrow" and he agreed. Never seen him look like that, i even went on the kostya forum and said that he looked bad but all of them were like "nah hes looking alright"...yeah bullshit. Anyway the fight happened, hatton won...congrats to him,but wouldnt of beat kostya in his prime.
