It was a disappointing Saturday night in Memphis for middleweight contender Edison 'Pantera' Miranda as he suffered the first clear loss of his career to Kelly Pavlik. But Miranda vows to be back in the ring and better than ever in the future. "I’m sorry to all my fans for my performance on Saturday night," said the gracious Miranda. "I let you down, but know that I tried my best with what I had to win the fight.

I don't remember this, but Wacko picked PBF to win the fight, so he wouldn't have taken that bet.

Yeah but then the kid says
"To Kelly Pavlik, congratulations on your win; it was an honor to be in the ring with a warrior who thinks and fights like you do, and I hope we can fight again in the future."
class
At least that is what the interpreter said ;D
Miranda probably hasn't been able to speak since he's had his jaw in traction and is semi conscious in hospital ;)
yeah who knows what he really said but he seems like a decent guy. one thing for sure that was a pretty damn decent fight! best one i seen in awhile! as for going up to super middle, who is miranda gonna beat for a title? it's pretty much Kessler and Calzaghe with all the belts and I dont see him beating either...by a long shot. seriously, till this miranda guy grows a brain and starts working on improving his defense significantly, he will always be very, very limited and even on a fluke win over Calzaghe (say the old guy breaks both his hands or something) where Edison wound up with a SMW title, Pavlik could always know he would have a guaranteed W over Miranda for that title, should he decide to move up one weight class, which to him would be easy with his height; im sure we will see Pavlik fight as a SMW, LH and possibly even HW one day...as for Miranda, I dont see him going any heavier than LH and even if he goes up that far, I dont see him doing too well against the bigger guys there based on his performance against "The Ghost", on saturday night.

He did come in over.. And have to loose it quick..
Its probably no excuse..
But then again.. You need to be tip top to fight a guy like pavlik and miranda even if this affected him in a small way..It affected him big time when you look at the big picture..
But you gotta be honest.. He did look like the typical no pop tired fighter that had trouble making weight.. His own fault though.. If he wanted it bad enough then he should have worked through it perhpaps..
Re: Miranda: I'm sorry; I'll be back!
this fight really must of affect him alot
he pobaly never got beaten like that
miranda need to go back to the drawing boards
Re: Miranda: I'm sorry; I'll be back!
good luck to miranda. i like the guy and hope he does well

Anyways, Miranda looked bone dry from what little I've seen from the fight. Weight definitely did take it's toll imo, but Pavlik would have beat him at 162 too, so long as he wasn't scared, he was going to win.
But 168 is the place for him, maybe he can face Allan Green again and KO him this time. Then work his way back up and fight Jeff Lacy, and have to give this speech all over again :D
It's funny you say that, I have been reading the forum for about a year on advice from my brother, and have learned alot, now its time to live out my sportswriter fantasies. Anyway I don't think Miranda would have to work his way up to fight Lacy. They are ready for that fight this year, both need to turn their careers around.
Your'e not Don Omega are you? :-X

I wish he would come around here. I should extend the olive branch for him to come here. I wonder if he has a myspace :D
Re: Miranda: I'm sorry; I'll be back!
I believe him the kid has got heart and wouldnt fold after getting rocked twice in the 6th. He told his corner he wanted to continue, brass balls baby. Hopefully he learned a lesson about running his mouth, seriously we all know actions speak louder than words. You know Kelly was pissed during training, and see what happened. Plus it also make people hate you i.e. Floyd, so just shut up and train your ass off Miranda that will say more than your mouth ever could.

Terry Norris was a way better fighter than Miranda.
Re: Miranda: I'm sorry; I'll be back!
Miranda was drained for sure. He didn´t have the same pop as in his other fights. If he had faced Pavlik without the weight problems, it would have been a tougher fight for Kelly. I´m not saying that he would lose, but in this fight Mirandas hands were more low than ever. And when Taylor said Miranda is overrated...Taylor felt a relief not facing a guy he was scared of. i like Mirandas big talking, like Mayorga. because even if they get pummeled, they atleast belive in themselfe and try for the win. Miranda will knock out Pavlik in the future. Or maybe Abraham will outbox Pavlik. Because Abraham is the best one out there.
